More corporate stonewalling (or, my work situation redux)
Today, the soon-to-be ex-owner of my workplace brought a corporate suit from Brooks Drug to our store (which is closing down soon) to meet the pharmacists, who will be "floating" at the various Brooks stores in greater Hartford. I wasn't there myself, being out on the road making deliveries at the time, but my co-workers filled me in on their experience with this guy. Basically, his stock answer to every question they asked was, "I don't know."

Anyway, it seems the letter we got with our last paycheck (from Neil, the soon-to-be ex-owner) was erroneous when it stated that we whose store was about to be closed would be offered jobs with Brooks. When my co-workers, Dawn and Bernie, asked the suit about that, he didn't know what they were talking about--just like the last Brooks exec with whom Dawn and Bernie had dealt. He turned to Neil, who explained about the letter he had written under the assumption that the job guarantees were real. Turns out, they weren't. Oops! Silly old Neil.

So, when his gaffe is brought to light, Neil sincerely apologizes for the misunderstanding--not to Dawn and Bernie, but to the corporate suit!

I'm glad I wasn't there. :grr::nuke:

1. GRRRRRRRR!
I swear to God, if lightning were to come down and strike every corporate exec in the land I would be dancing in the streets and so would millions of other people! These people are the modern-day robber barons, and hopefully they'll suffer the same fate as their ancestors-in-corporate-greed-and-corruption!

Boy, it just seems to keep coming at your work, Dean, doesn't it? What did your co-workers do? Lucky for you you weren't there, or you'd probably be in jail right now, lol!

3. Reminds me of this time on my old driving job, when I had to deliver to...
...Somers State Prison. As I waited at the guard station for the hospital guy to come down and sign for the medicine, the guard complained to me, "I deal with the scum of the earth on this job."

To which I replied, "Oh! Your inmates are corporate CEOs?"

He didn't get the joke.

they laid off our Tandem guy and our AIX BBS guy (IT) last week. So today they had a 15 minute account meeting where they said they weren't done yet, there will be more layoffs in the next few weeks and "WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN WE ARE DONE". These people are heartless f***ing ASSHOLES.

5. Reminds me of something else that happened at today's meeting.
Again, I'm giving you a second-hand account based on what my co-workers told me.

When they asked Neil exactly when our store would be closing down, he replied, "I don't know yet. I'll be able to tell you by next Friday." Mind you, that's *next* Friday, the 16th. Which gives us all another nine days to walk on pins and needles.

Incidentally, people in the other two stores who've been with the company for a much shorter time than my co-workers and I will be holding on to their jobs when Brooks takes over those stores in early May.

Neil, you're a motherfucking cocksucker!!! :argh:

6. There's a special spot in hell
for these people, Jesus held them in the highest possible contempt. I know you don't share my religious beliefs, Dean, but trust me on this!

A special place in hell for them and a special place in heaven for those of us who had the misfortune of having to deal with them and have our lives controlled by them!!!

7. Yup - in our case I understand the reason for the layoffs
but for heaven's sake just announce there will be layoffs, do them and then be DONE with it. Like NT says, having people walk around for weeks waiting for the axe to fall (there's a high probability I could be one of them) is just tormenting people.
