American talk radio in Baghdad......a different take
Dave Ross is the morning talk radio host on 710 KIRO in Seattle. Dave is generally not as outspokenly liberal as his co-workers at KIRO, Mike Webb or Erin Hart. At least I get that impression, since I don't often catch his show. I heard it today, however. Now, I don't watch the empire-speak box, aka tv, but I know that it is incredibly tainted. Dave is calm and level-headed in a very reasonable way as he explains the chaos in Baghdad and responds to his callers. If this type of reporting were more widespread, well, things would be different.

I think many DU folk have a much more realistic take on the Iraq situation than the general populace. However, Dave's Baghdad weblog has some interesting info. many may find informative.

All week this week Dave is broadcasting from a dilapidated (which I gathered from his description of it) hotel in Baghdad.

What are Iraqis saying?

Hikmet Rashid: " say we are guilty - but it's them who blocked our roads so we can not reach places where we work I saw with my own eyes what happened here; we've lost children, we've lost innocent people for nothing, it's awful terrorism. Why did they come to Iraq? what do they need in Iraq?

Qadir Musa

When Bush first appeared on TV he said he is going to free Iraq from Saddam, now we've got rid of Saddam Hussein but we are facing more strong oppression than before. Look what happened yesterday - killed children and women, what have they done? They are controlling the city with the help of helicopters and machine guns.

On my street mother is crying about three of her sons, killed when americans bombed her house, four houses were destroyed, our people became so angry, furious, and they've hit another place in our neighborhood - destroyed everything, look at me - the roads are blocked and I can not go

1. It's amazing that people think Iraqis would just "get over" losing
at least 10,000 civilians and military. And then it doesn't end; it just keeps on going. We lost 3,000 citizens and invaded two countries.

2. Been glued to 710 KIRO since Dave Ross has been in Baghdad.
His reports have been nothing less than chilling.

I've always considered Dave Ross to be more of a pragmatist as opposed to being a liberal or a conservative. He's definitely not as conservative as KIRO's afternoon talk show host that pussy whipped chicken-hawk armchair warrior Dori Monson.
