Bill O'Reilly says Iraq might cost Bush re-election, troops should leave
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/04/08/politics/campaign/08POLI.html?hp

But in an unwelcome development for the White House, even some right-leaning commentators and political leaders appeared uncomfortable with Mr. Bush's Iraq policy. Bill O'Reilly, the Fox News commentator who had been one of the most vocal supporters of the war, warned that the situation in Iraq might cost Mr. Bush re-election if he did not deal with it promptly. Mr. O'Reilly compared the Iraqis to the South Vietnamese in their lack of support for the United States.

"If these people won't help us, we need to get out in an orderly matter," Mr. O'Reilly said on his show Monday evening, repeating the sentiment again on Tuesday.

2. Funny stuff Bill
So, the fact that the entire war including the many thousands dead, over 100 BILLION taxpayer dollars spent, and on on was based on lies doesn't matter. But if it might cost Bush the election, well NOW we have to leave. Bill you are such a sick bastard. Seriously.

If it wasn't worth the death of one US troop, it wasn't worth doing. They will just never understand. The solution is to get help from other Arabs in the region, even Iran if we have to. Do what we need to do to create some sort of stable government. Then leave, if we must go that route. What a fucking coward. Sends 630 troops and thousands of Iraqi's to their death and then when it looks like it might hurt Bushie's chance at (re)election, HE caves and runs. I hate these people.

6. Bill isn't real bright.
If chimpy does pull the troops out he will be widely seen as weak and the war as a waste. This will deflate two of the favorite myths of the wrong wing and alienate much of chimpy's hard core support.

Chimpy pulls the troops out and he loses for sure. So chimpy has to "tough" it out and hope for the best.

Bill hasn't thought this one out. But that is nothing new.

9. Duh-bya -- caught between a bush and a shrub
you got that right necso

if we stay it's going to be a very long and bloody occupation
if we pull out it's going to be seen as being weak and wimpy

the only way I see some sort of resolution to "Mess-o-potamia" is for the UN to be more involved --- but that won't happen as long as the puppet is the "leader"

10. Shrub is in trouble
When the Supporters start going after his policies... publically... then the Shrub is starting to lose support.

I was pretty sure when the "body bags" started to pile up (and in this case it was just news reports ABOUT the bodies) that Bush would start to have trouble.

I am appalled and sick at heart about the violence in Iraq, but I guess this is the only way we are going to be able to extract ourselves from a completely insane policy.

It had to take American lives though to finally beat through the dense brush of this STUPID pundit's head.

(shakes her own head).

Bring it on O'Reilly, maybe you can convince a few ditto-heads!

11. O'Reilley's only concern is his ego, not Bush's campaign.
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 03:59 AM by Cat Atomic
He's only hedging his bets here so he can save face. What's left of it.

That's the only angle O'Reilly ever has, and it's what allows him to convince his more gullible fans that he isn't a partisan. He's doesn't toe the party line quite 100% of the time, because sometimes that would mean putting loyalty before pride, which he cannot do.

Bill O'Reilley is a joke.

No doubt on that at all, but it doesn't change the fact that if he will bring this on amongst the ditto-head peers, that it's about time. ;)

he's an idiot, there is no doubt on that. But a canny one....
