Bush to turn Iraq Gov. to who? Do IRAQ even know? We don't and it is
supposed to happen in 6 weeks.
WHY does everybody not know it? It doesn't make sense to me?

The last time we were exposed to the secrecy surrounding the Bush WH, we then had the beginning of the Iraq war.

It is strange how everybody seems to accept their secrecy as the normal way to handle things.

1. The "handover" is a joke. It's going to be comical to hear
Bush say that anything has changed after 6/30. We'll still have the troops there, still have our bases, and contractors. The Iraqi puppet government will be getting there operational orders from the Republican political officer in our embassy.

I wonder who the lucky Iraqi will be who gets to be put in charge? Chalabi? Whoever the person is, I won't give me long odds for remaining on this Earth for a long period of time.

3. THIS is the problem.

It amazes me that more people don't see this. I've been saying that the problem isn't that we don't and never did have a PLAN in place for post-war Iraq- it's that we don't and never did have a GOAL. What are we trying to DO here? What is the "end" that justifies these means?

Who did we have in mind for taking charge after we got rid of Saddam? It seems to me that they'd just want another SADDAM! They certainly don't want to hand over the country to the Shiites.

Think about it- they want a secular, heavy-handed and organized regime that will keep the country from splintering. That WAS Saddam!

STUPID.

On edit: By the way, this is what REALLY leads me to think that the only reason they invaded was because Saddam wouldn't sell them cheap oil- since, politically, he was actually the PERFECT dictator for them. Why would they have wanted to get rid of him?

8. the goal is WW3, and Iraq as a base to launch attacks
The neocons have made no secret of their plans, and if Bush wins re-election, that is what will happen.

they have no intention of pulling out of Iraq. they will declare Mission Accomplished, make sure the daily attacks get minor mention on the news, call uprisings the actions of a minority of troublemakers, and then you'll hear about our attack on Syria or Iran or...

5. Hand-picked board.....all out of office within the year
assassinated or running to exile. You think Iraqis want a clown like Chalabi, who has been out of the country for 40 years, showing up at their doorstep after being handed the countries' reigns from the USA? It will never happen.

7. the "handover" is election year b.s. "mission accomplished"
because this is the reality of the "handover"

as you can see, this is nothing but window dressing for occupation, for a puppet regime, and for the US to have a base to carry out the neocon's world war 3 via an attack on EVERY nation in the middle east...with our sons and daughters, or maybe even you, as cannon fodder, while Bush vacations in Crawford.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3600813.stm

But one thing Americans probably do not realize is that the "handover" is just another Bush "Mission Accomplished" photo op before another election season.

* security after 30 June will remain in the hands of a four-star American general who will command all military forces, foreign and Iraqi.

* the format of the interim government is far from agreed. There is likely to be a prime minister under a revolving three-person presidency. The prime minister will have to have the approval of the United States.

* the interim government will administer but it will not rule. It will have very little power. Many of its ministers will probably be the same as those now running the Iraqi Governing Council.

* financial decisions will largely remain with the US since $8bn of reconstruction aid will be flowing in. The new US embassy will be the power in the land.
