9/11 Committee a farcical |
|
They hardly asked any questions to get the truth. This isn't a college paper on what can we do from here to prevent a future attack? You know, we can study that in the future, what I would like, is the truth, Clarke disputed some serious things, can we hear her answers to those contradictions, while under oath? Not a long free commercial for Bush's reelection?

8. Have you ever seen a Congressional hearing before? |
|
They are all like this.
Senator: (Assume I am speaking like Foghorn Leghorn or this becomes less amusing). Now, General, on behaff of the great people of the Great State of Alabama, I feel it is my duty to question you on the followin' material. For it is a time of great peril in our country and the fine people of this great nation . . . the people who work the farms....who work in the mills.....who go to church....who raise their children . . .who go to high school football games on Friday night and then talk about them at Gus's Dinor on Saturday mornin'...well, these people deserve the answer to the question I am about to ask you. Because our great Fouding Fathers created a Republic where open discussion between the leaders and . .
General: Um, Senator, the question?
Senator: Now, listen boy, I ain't done grandstandin' yet.

>This isn't a college paper on what can we do from here to prevent a future attack?
You're right. It's much, much more serious than a college paper. But, it is, in fact, the purpose of this commission to review the years that lead up to 9/11, what was in place at that time, what has been done since, and what needs to be done further to assist in doing all we can to prevent it from ever happening again.
If this commission report turns out to be nothing but a partisian political report and finger pointing as to who is most to blame for 9/11, Clinton or Bush, then this whole thing will have been a collosial waste of time. The average American does NOT want their national security politicized. Obviously there were gaping holes overlooked and opportunities missed which can be seen in hind-sight. What our government needs to know are suggestions as to what should be done to prevent a future attack.
