Condi has testified there was information months before 9-11 that something VERY BIG was going to happen. They knew it. So when they knew that planes had been hijacked, why did they not respond as though this was THE BIG THING? Why did the resident continue his schedule as though nothing was happening? Where were the military jets to protect our airspace? SHE HAS ADMITTED THEY KNEW THIS WAS AN ATTACK. I'm waiting for the commission to ask the question, "You knew on September 11 that we were under attack. Why did you not respond then?"

I think it's the latter. I think they WERE asleep at the wheel, and purposely scuttled Clarke's plans b/c they didn't feel terrorism was a threat worth dealing with (unless it was via a missile defense system).

They KNEW Al Qaeda was going to try something. They WERE on high alert throughout the summer. No halfway competent administration / president could have had any other response than : "OMG! This is it!"

The "One bad piot" statement alone shows that Bush and his administration were clueless and asleep at the wheel.

(Note: I'm not one of those who buy into the conspiracy theory that he somehow saw the first plane strike that morning and therefore knew about the attack before everyone else. i think he misspoke when he said something about seeing the "first plane" hit with the "one bad pilot" statement. He "misspeaks" often, but it's usually out of incompetence and not lying. He's a moron.)
