2. I agree with Matthews. Lots of inflammatory data were revealed.
What we underlings don't realize is that she made statements that opened the door. Now people who REALLY know the information can come out and talk.

12. I think they'll stonewall until they can't anymore
and then the media will congratulate them on being so forthcoming. (c.f. Condi's testimony, Bush/Cheney's testimony, etc.)

Welcome to DU, by the way. :toast:

23. Politically impossible...
They can stonewall the energy meetings because, what the hell, it's just a bunch of tree-hugging environmentalists, right? This is different. People are dying.

I hope they try though, my guess is that it will shave 1-2 points of Shrub's approval rating for every week he stalls.

energy task force meetings had to do with the Iraq war and how the oil would be divided up....thats why they were closed door and Cheney aint giving up anything from those meetings!

15. Yes, but...
...it didn't give longitude and latitude on the attack, and didn't even give the time, or what the terrorists would be wearing, or what they had for breakfast...if they even had breakfast! They're so damn sneaky, they probably didn't. And how were we to know if it was really that bin Laden they were talking about. Do you know how many 6 foot tall bin Laden billionaires there are who've declared war on the US? And attack? What's that mean? Are we talking strategic attack or tactical attack here?

Not damning at all.

were half as amazing as those they left behind, then September 11 was a bigger tragedy than any of us could possibly comprehend.

18. No. Just Americans.
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 11:30 AM by CaptainClark23
The difference is that the 9.11 families in general, and the Jersey Girls in particular, have found a vested interest in the truth.

We are all capable, all of us, of mustering that same determination.

If each American could take all of what's happening around us personally, as a direct attack against us and our families, we'd see the spirit in which this nation was founded.

To quote the sage J. Strummer: "Let fury have the hour, anger can be power, don't you know that you can use it"

ON EDIT: bad syntax

21. In The Face of This Admin's Roadblocks/Stonewalling/Obstacles
And the immense feeling of powerlessness that had to be felt by these people over the course of the last 2.5 years, I think that some people might have succombed to despair.

30. No doubt
And the reflexive reaction to despair is apathy.

Either that or anger. One gets us nothing, the other empowers and motivates us.

See you in the sreets.

20. The Widows on Hardball are trashing her.
"Apparently she didn't feel like that was her responsibility"

"That was her job"

"What exactly did she know. If she didn't know it, then who else did. That's her job to know."

One of the widows ticked off a list of the government people that stopped flying the day before 9/11.

Good stuff.

28. Jon Stewart tonight
I'm sure everybody is wondering what the Daily Show treatment will be. I think the "how much higher can you go" remark is prime meat. i can see the skit with Stewart reacting as cheney's image hoves into view. Should be fun.

32. Bob Bennet (R-Liar) spinning now
Tweety bringing up 'one bad pilot' statement, Bennet says everyone was saying that until second plane hit and they realized it was an attack.

Of course, there's the issue that a flight attendant called ground control from the first plane 45 minutes before it hit, so perhaps they thought it was a 'friendly hijacking' instead of an attack?

Bennet trying to blame Clarke -- Tweety having none of it.
