Condi's LAMEST Distortion......
Condi's main job was to defend the Bush Junta against charges that they sat on their hands before 911 and there was NO way to have prevented or disrupted the hijackers.

She constantly states there were institutional problems of exchanging information between the FBI and CIA. Yet correcting this does NOT excuse her from, as Clarke said.... "shaking the tree" during the "summer of threat" to insure information from lower levels were making it up to be evaluated in the light of this broader context.

While there's no guarantee, it seems is perfectly reasonable to wonder whether Condi blew the Bush Junta's big chance to disrupt or foil the 911 plot. I don't believe this was an intentional "let it happen" sceniro... just another example of the utter incompetence of the Bush Junta.

1. The "the terrorists are the ones to blame" talking point
used to deflect ANY critism that the administration is in any way to blame for the events of 9/11

3. Articulate and poised?
Um, let me answ - we didn't know, but to answer your ques - with all due respect.

She did poorly. Why do the bushies stumble so over their words? A: it's hard to keep all the lies straight.

4. She shares rummy's equivocation style
I thought she did very poorly. Her posture was very defensive, deflecting all blame. The public will contrast this with Clarke's testimony, where he gave a personal apology and acknowledged that the gov. had failed the public (he did not apologize for the government). There were obvious denials of reality: a plan is not a plan, a warning is not a warning, and nothing could possibly have been done. She seemed to have read up on Kerry and ran out the clock. D minus

5. arrogance trumps conscience
tigereye asked: "Plus she is incredibly sure of herself... how does she sleep at night?"

Simple. Arrogance and delusions of infallibility trump conscience.
