4. Is there a link anywhere stating this?
Because I would like to send it to Deborah Norville of MSNBC. Last night she had a guy on her show, who's son was killed on the Cole. The guy was blaming Clinton because nothing was done about the Cole, he also blamed Clinton for 9/11 in so many words. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. There was also a woman on there and I believe two of her relatives died in the Africa embassy bombings. I didn't keep the channel on long enough to see if there was someone there to counter what these people are saying.

to mention that. I mean, it made me so damn mad I turned off the tv. It's like the Bush fans want to put some blame on Clinton no matter how lame. That segment shouldn't have been presented that way at all. MSNBC should be ashamed.

9. I vaguely remember

It seemed at the time that there was no backup for the Cole crew. They were sort of left hanging out to dry as far as who did it. The focus was on the ship getting back into port for repairs.

I remember that the Yemeni gov't did round up some people but they were not turned over to the FBI.

I'll see if I can find some more on this.

8. No big news
Heard the chief Cole investigator speak once before 9/11, and he noted back in March that it didn't seem to be a priority with the U.S. ambassador to Yemen and others.

11. Ambassador Reportedly Wouldn't Let FBI Arm Themselves
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- After an absence of more than three months, FBI investigators are expected to return to Yemen as soon as next week to resume their investigation into last year's bombing of the USS Cole, a senior administration source tells CNN.

snip
Earlier this month, the FBI and the State Department reached a tentative agreement on security arrangements for FBI investigators working in Yemen.

The FBI pulled all of its investigators out of Yemen in June after a dispute between the U.S. ambassador to Yemen, Barbara Bodine, and the FBI's lead supervisor of the investigation, John O'Neill, who wanted permission for his agents to carry heavier weapons in Yemen due to "specific and credible" security threats.

When Bodine denied O'Neill's request, saying that FBI investigators would be protected by the same diplomatic security rules as agents who guard U.S. diplomats at the U.S. Embassy, the FBI suspended its operation in Yemen.

14. The chief Cole investigator was John O'Neill, who was pulled off
His plans to go to Yemen revoked, then in a mysterious "lost briefcase" incident he was suddenly out of the FBI. He then took over as head of security for the World Trade Center. He got out alive, made at least three phone calls, according to one (1) witness he then went into the building again, where he perished.

Strange stories, aren't they? You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried.

10. Halliburton had the refueling contract there where the Cole was
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 04:20 PM by T Bone
So were those terrorists in the rubber dinghy hired by Halliburton or local subcontractors for Halliburton ?

I've always wondered if THAT is why the investigation of that just 'went away'.
