What else needs to be said? Rice is guilty of perjury right there. The document she claimed, under oath, had no warnings had a title that was a big fucking warning...I guess we'll end up quibbling over the definition of a warning...

It's been classified up until now and the rest of the brief is still classified and even the 9/11 commissioners have only seen a heavily redacted version. It is my opinion this brief is a smoking gun that not only warns of an attack, but an attack possibly involving hijacked planes.

Bob Woodward's article in the Washington Post quoted the title of the August 6, 2001 PDB. I'm pretty sure this was what started the wave of "BUSH KNEW" sentiment in the spring following the attacks.

The PDB title was first mentioned in a Bob Woodward Washington Post story from May, 2002... wasn't this what started the "BUSH KNEW" wave??

Just before Clarke's book was released, and in anticipation of it, many bloggers and sites were pointing to the Aug 6, 2001 memo as "the smoking gun." I just knew I had heard of that PDB title before...

When this story was first published in May of 2002, only eight months after the attacks, I don't think people were quite ready to believe that Bush wasn't such a great leader and hero after all.

The first year after the attacks were a numbing, strange time.

From Rice's briefing, in jackstraw45's link above, here's Condi once again insisting that had the exact time, date, and flight numbers appeared in the August 6th 2001 memo, she might have actually interrupted Bush during one of his marathon cedar-clearing sessions at the ranch...

I want to reiterate, it was not a warning. There was no specific time, place or method mentioned. What you have seen in the run-up that I've talked about is that the FAA was reacting to the same kind of generalized information about a potential hijacking as a method that al Qaeda might employ, but no specific information saying that they were planning such an attack at a particular time.

Have they no shame, no sense of purpose, duty, honor, integrity???

-- always the "there was no specific information so we didn't do anything." There's still quite a lot they could have done and did not do, and for that they blame the agencies they should have been directing and questioning -- CIA, FBI, Counterterrorism/Clarke, etc... and of course, they blame Clinton.

Today she was saying there should have been "hardened" airline security during Clinton's term, yet the Gore Commission in 1996 recommended all that and the GOP laughed it off and never let the recommendations out of committee.

She also talks a lot about their great progress in getting different agencies to talk to each other, and the value of the Patriot Act and Homeland Security dept., yet a lot of the stuff included in those was recommended in the Hart-Rudman report, wasn't it? That wasn't available to Clinton, it was ordered by him and presented to the Bushies. Their eight months included a lot of information!

When Commissioner Ben Veniste got her to finally say what the title of the Aug.6 PDB was and she said it as though it was the most insignificant thing in the world. "I THINK it was...something...like...Bin Laden determined....to attack inside..." All the while furrowing her brow and shaking her head back and forth as though this was something she had to burrow up from the deepest, darkest recesses of her memory. Here's a woman who seems to know every leaf and branch of the intelligence "structure" (a theme which she ran right into the ground) but ask her the title of the PDB that Bush received a mere month prior to 9/11 and we get "I THINK it...it was...something...like...".

* has a PDB that is titled Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States but on 9/11 he approves the flight of the Bin Laden family. I am no detective, but I would think you may want to interrogate the family members, prior to granting them authority to leave the country. I am surprised this has not been discussed.

Yesterday on AA one point made by a caller that has me thinking is the current gas situation. This guy made the claim that the Saudis have some serious dirt on *. This Administration is DEAD in the water...there is no way they can swipe this under the rug...and it's only gonna get better next week when we hear from FBI Director Freeh & Herr Ashcroft.
