Naive as it seems, many people bought into the whole "cakewalk, throwing flowers, handover in six months" scenario. These people are starting to realize that Iraq isn't turning out to be the product that BushCo was selling.

On edit: that's the problem with starting a war on false pretenses. You can't fake the actual consequences, and when people realize that things are a lot uglier than they thought they'd be, support from those people evaporates.
