what if Russia was doing this? |
|
as the ramifications and deadly consequences multiply on a daily basis from this decidely ill advised invasion, I have often wondered what the world reaction would be if another country , say Russia , had ignorned the UN security council ,thumbed its nose at world opinion and adopted a pre-emptive and unilateral position? backed by a coalition of the bribed and coerced, the Russians, with God on their side decide to launch an illegal war to secure the energy resources of the Middle East. would have WWIII erupted ? or is the daily propaganda bombardment so effective that we can now overlook any misgivings as long as its done in the notion "bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq" ?

3. Umm, the Russians pretty much did that... |

... for ten years in Afghanistan. Except then, it was getting the oil out of the Caspian to market.

or the old USSR as an example..bad choice on my behalf..the irony of the mujahadeen vs USSR conflict , is that once created and funded jointly by the CIA and Pakistani secret service ,the holy warriors have returned to haunt their creators..

It may be a better example of what you are looking for.

6. This is the argument I use.. |
|
...when I argue against the war...I lived in the USSR when we started the war in Afghanistan, and I saw how 'well' that turned out...but what I forget is logic and common sense doesn't really work on complete morons...but I digress...you make an excellent point, no other county wouldn't be able to get away with this after the first day of invasion..hell, isn't that why Gulf War started? Saddam invaded Kuwait, and we went over there to smack him around...

they pretty much destroyed Grozny, razed it nearly to the ground.
same reasons, fake terror attacks actually performed by Putin's own security guys, which shored up his support and zealous nationalism, and let him start a war.
Now he's pretty much locked in for life. New dictator.
He's Bush's mentor.
Watch Putin, that's what Bushco will do next.

9. Today, we'd be helping the Russians |
|
In the past, we'd be helping the Iraqis.
The Russians kind of are doing this in Chechnya anyway. I don't think we're criticizing them too seriously. I bet we're wishing them best of luck.
