those soldiers back to their families safe and alive, but over 600 won't be coming home now, ever. But W got his war, didn't he? I say this in all sincerity: God bless America now.

1. America will NOT be "blessed."
She installed bona fide card-carrying Nazis into her "intelligence" operations after WWII. Since then her "foreign policy" has been to slash and burn anyone in the way of her corporate interests. Her citizenry has become obese and dull-witted feeding off the suffering of millions while systematically destroying our collective host, Mother Earth.

LEAVE G_d out of it. G_d didn't do it, YOU DID. Americans will reap what they have ALLOWED to be sown in their names.

3. WW2 does seem to be a turning point, doesn't it...

Eisenhower warned us about the military-industrial complex... but it was probably too late.

Fifty years later, we have a lot to answer for.

4. Street fighting has been my fear
The US military is the best in the world but our technological advantage does not mean much in house to house combat. Our troops are very vulnerable in the type of fighting that is now going on. I have been afraid from some time that if things got our of hand and it got down to street fighting, things would not be pretty. Unfortunately, my worst fears are coming true.

2. not to mention the dead Iraqis, and what might have been

That's the part that keeps eating at me: things could have been so different -- bear with me here, I know it's difficult -- after 9/11 we had the consensus to change things, to right wrongs, and what did we do? Afghanistan, seems justified, but abandoned halfway through. Iraq, oil & money in Halliburton's orifii. I won't even consider how many more "terrorists" we have created with our actions.
