This poll also has his approval rating at 52 percent, while every other poll in April has it from 43-49 percent. Ruy Teixiera wrote on his blog http://www.emergingdemocraticmajority.com about that last Gallup poll, noting it had a disproportionately high number of Republicans. That might be the case here.

2. I think a lot is normal statistical variation

which can swing the margin of error either way. The main thing to all these polls is that everything is real close.
