150 protest Iraq violence in Chicago

CHICAGO, April 9 (UPI) -- About 150 people gathered at Chicago's Federal Plaza during the Friday evening rush hour to protest the escalation of violence in Iraq.

Organizers from ANSWER International and other peace groups called the "Emergency Troops Out Now Rally" in the wake of the killings of dozens of people at a mosque in Fallujah on Wednesday.

I think it was more like 500, but what do you expect from the Washington Times.

Here are some of my pics:

2. I heard one of the organizers interviewed on NPR.
It was a neighbor of mine.

Unfortunately, I was at work in the 'burbs and unable to attend. Thanks for the photos.

3. Local Media Showed The Protest
You can see the newscams from the local NBC and ABC stations there and the three others also had crews on-hand. Good work!

Chicago was a center of Vietnam protest and glad to see we're back in business here. There are a lot of folks in this area that are angry about this regime and getting angrier by the day.

Too bad RoveCo. didn't dare plan his Convention here.

Cheers!

5. Is There Still A Hash Bash?
Thought that was around this time of year...or in May. I knew one of the organizers, but he disappeared in a "cloud of smoke".

That'd be a great place to protest. Grant Park or one of the beaches...lots of signs and noise.

Ah, the 60's blood is flowing this morning.

Cheers, neighbor from the NW burbs

9. The Windy City Hemp Fest?
The website they give is down, but here's a flyer with some contact information:

I remember last year they had a march the week or two before the actual Hemp Fest.
