The state of American Journalisim. This Piece is a perfect example.

It's a headline piece in today's Miami Herald about the airport screening of Crown Prince Felipe of Spain. Now no matter if you agree that the Prince should have been screened like uh..any "Average Joe"... I don't think it's the journalist job to include his thoughts on the matter. I just want the facts.

Comments like "Average Joe" and "Commoners" shouldn't be included in a story like this because it reflects the Journalist's opinions when a story like this doesn't ask for them.

This is basic jounalisim 101 and we see this more and more from the folks that run our discourse. Another words, it fucking bugs the hell out of me...

2. 21st century "American Journalisim" is best classified as infotainment
since the news now competes tooth and nail with entertainment, news has to do more than give the facts, it has to capture attention, thus its subjective nature in modern times.

maybe someone will rewrite dickens "christmas carol" replacing marley's ghost the ghost of edward r murrow and have roger ailes of faux as scrooge.

that would be worth the price of admission.

3. I seem to remember a Crown Prince taking out his whole family

The whole Royal Family of Nepal was butchered by their Crown Prince. That would make Crown Princes a group for which the statistics seem to indicate caution is warranted.

4. what bothers me even more...
... that that journalists used to try to get to the truth of a situation. They investigated both sides of the story and gave their best judgement.

Now, they just say "he says this" and "she says that" and you are left on your own without any verification of the factuality of what either said.

Fooey.

5. I believe the "bending over of the media" will be the true downfall
of American Democracy. Without truth there is no democracy and our electronic media deliver anything but the truth.
