Condi and the good ole boys...
The last day or two I've began to pick up some subtle inferences from articles and such that the Bush gang was perfectly willing to give Condi the title, but they never really gave her the job,or let her have the authority to do the job.

I realize this is a volatile topic,so I'm begging you guys not to flame me..lol. The thing is,that makes sense to me.I can easily imagine these guys tossing a woman up there for political reasons while assuming she couldn't 'really' do the job, that it was 'mens work' and they'd take care of her.

There is no part of me that doesn't believe that in ANY group there are people with tremendous amounts of merit, and people that are total goofballs. I actually think Condi has some merit, but she's surrounded by goofballs who have their realities reversed.

Anyway,my question is,does it appear that past national security advisors had more authority or influence then Condi has? Is there any validity to this theory?

1. She could very well be a tool
She certainly didn't seem to know or care what was going on, or think it was her responsibility to know.

She had to run everything by Cheney, I think.

2. she is and was grossly unprepared for that job
she's a stooge and a front person for the PNAC contingent

they let her play mentor to L'il George (and play house with him too I suppose), but she clearly demonstrated before the 9-11 Commission that she has no real role in her job other than to be a good bureaucrat and fall on her sword for the nominal head of the bushgang.

3. She is fully complicit --
No doubt she is intended as a token. Token woman, token black, with a given name that bespeaks the black lower class into the bargain. But she has to have known this, and accepted the role, and every evidence says that she -- specialist in the Soviet Union, a field of expertise that no longer exists! -- "bought into" the mistaken beliefs and right-wing obsessions that led directly to the 9-11 disaster.

4. Condi did the talking heads shows

Surely, National Security Advisor is a full-time job, and then some.

Most of the other NSAs were seldom seen on those shows. Scrowcroft was the most visible, by my recollection.

Both Condi and Powell were figureheads. Still, her veracity quotient is very low in my book.
