Calls for impeachment or resignation |
|
First, neither will happen, certainly not before the election (assuming there is an actual election this time).
If either did, though, we should consider the matter of order of succession. Would anyone prefer Cheney as pres? Where on the following list would it be acceptable for the impeachments and/or resignations to stop?
Order of U.S. Presidential Succession Back to U.S. Presidency - Index Page.
* The Vice President, Dick Cheney * Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert * President pro tempore of the Senate, Ted Stevens * Secretary of State, Colin Powell * Secretary of the Treasury, John Snow * Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld * Attorney General, John Ashcroft * Secretary of the Interior, Gale Norton * Secretary of Agriculture, Ann Veneman * Secretary of Commerce * Secretary of Labor * Secretary of Health and Human Services * Secretary of Housing and Urban Development * Secretary of Transportation * Secretary of Energy * Secretary of Education * Secretary of Veterans Affairs
NOTE: An official cannot succeed to the Presidency unless that person meets the Constitutional requirements.
Qualifications for the office of President: No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States. (From Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution)

1. Yes, I would prefer Cheney as President |
|
Cheney has NO charisma. the public would see through him in a minute. When election time comes around (if he would be installed to finish out Twerp's term) he'd get maybe 5 votes nationally. Ed Gein could defeat him. So yes, impeachment sounds good to me.

but how would you keep Cheney out of jail and in office, if L'il George goes down.
Seems to me Dick is in worse jeopardy than Li'l George.

The Cheney impeachment would eat up all the time until the election. He loses. Game over.
