Poll: Most Americans Oppose Gay Marriage
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&u=/ap/20040410/ap_on_re_us/gay_marriage_poll_2&printer=1

LOS ANGELES - Most Americans oppose gay marriage and many believe homosexuality is "against God's will," but otherwise consider themselves tolerant of gays, according to a Los Angeles Times poll.

By a margin of 55 to 41 percent, those polled agreed with the statement that "if gays are allowed to marry, the institution of marriage will be degraded."

About half favored a U.S. constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union between a man and a woman, while 42 percent opposed it, according to the poll published Saturday on the newspaper's Web site.

6. Not to mention those two who got married in vegas recently
for 15 hours. They didn't even sanctify their marriage with a good breeding! I mean if marriage is for having children, shouldn't a marriage be required to last at least long enough for a decent round of sexual activity?

7. Breeders really don't need that much time - 15 minutes will do
but I think they should be required to prove that it is accomplished during a fertile period of time in such a short liason.

8. that's right----each female breeder should keep a vial of her male
breeder's sperm in order to prove the fertilization period of their rutting.

5. "More" Americans would be more apropos
45% of the population either sure or not totally sure that allowing gay marriage is a good thing to do is a pretty big number.

MOST Americans would equate to something like 70% or more.

The media is bamboozling the public once again.

9. If they are so concerned about the sanctity of marriage
where is all the clammer for an amendment to outlaw divorce.

10. i still wonder
if people understand allowing gay marriages has nothing to do with their church or religious institution. gay marriages are performed by designated state officials (county clerk, whatever) and "legalizing" gay marriage does NOT mean the gov't will tell your church that you have to marry gays. i always wonder about this, just because the population as a whole has such a misconception about the separation of church and state, in large part thanks to fox news, falwell, bush, etc.

11. Why would my marriage be degraded just because two men or
two women get married?

My marriage isn't degraded by other heterosexuals getting married or divorced.

I think the solution to all this might be that to protect the "sanctity of marriage", divorce should be forbidden.
