The real reason repugs hate Clinton
For a long time I thought it was just their resentment of his easy manner, eloquence and of course the power of his intellect. It wasn't until the treachery of SCOTUS and the ascension of cheneybush that I began to suspect a deeper less obvious reason for their vitriolic hate. When I saw how quickly he set about tearing up Clintons environmental policies and shoveling money into his coal cronies pockets, and especially while witnessing his fixation on obtaining a defacto occupation of Iraq i understood how much like coitus interruptus his fathers one term had been for the neocons. They were just getting the NAC when suddenly this upstart governor threw a monkey wrench into their grand schemes. Not just for 4 years but 8. They were foaming at the mouth by the time of the 2000 election. And they moved fast, boy, did they move fast. Their plan was 8 years behind schedule. For the neocons (religious and ideological supporters are only potential cannon fodder for the neocons) this is entirely and exclusively about power and money. Clinton took them by surprise, but they all see Kerry coming at them. This may seem self-evident to a lot of you - but the implications for this years election could not be clearer.

Can we stand between the neocons and their money-flow? It's going to be like pulling Dracula from a victim midway thru his feed. They're dug in deep and already have blood on their hands. Sorry to paint such a dreary picture - but its not going to be politics as we've known it.

1. he was never supposed to be elected
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 10:58 PM by Skittles
they were not prepared to steal an election at that time and it probably really shocked them that an unknown 'hick' from Arkasas could topple Poppy following Reagan. And the second time around Clinton was too popular for them to steal it. It put a serious eight year delay in their PNAC plans.

2. Pretty good analysis - makes sense at least...
...from the point of view of the Bushites / neocons. I think Bush Sr. is a bit taken aback at the baldness of the imperial adventure, but he was always on board with robber-baron plundering of the planet. Bush 41 preferred his mailed fist to be covered in a velvet glove, Bush 43 makes no pretense. Naked aggression on all fronts. At least he is waking us up to the real program.

3. I can see what you mean and if
Kerry does win this what then? They aren't going to roll over. Our fight will have just begun.

4. I don't know if they care anymore.
True, they would love to have another 4 years to ransack the treasury but I think they know the gig is up and so they are draining as much as possible and putting themselves in place so that if and when a dem comes to office they will have sucked out what they wanted and left enough residual flow going to make the contributors happy.

8. Yeah.
Let Kerry take it, then gear up the neocons to neutralize him. Attacks and investigations everywhere. Drain the government dry and make Kerry be the bad guy who has to raise taxes to get everything back on track. All the while they're grooming Jethro for '08.

they are going to have to let things simmer down and let people forget about just how evil they are before they come roaring out from behind the scenes again singing

"the BEST things in life are FREE
but you can save them for the BIRDS and BEES
Just give me MONEY!

THAT'S what I want! That's what I want! THAT'S what I want!
That's what I WAAAAAANNNNNNNTTTT!

6. All of you are right
Very astute insight on this thread (it would be exciting if it weren't so scary). You've nailed it completely, and even if Kerry wins, we've only just begun the job of nation-building - in THIS country. And the rethuglican resistance will make harder than swimming upstream in jello without a paddle (or something like that).

9. I agree with what you are saying
but no way will another Bush be elected. I can not imagine that if we are lucky enough to get rid of shrub will we elect his brother. One term for 41 one term for 43 I think if the electorate does not re elect the idiot i don't think they will go down this road again.

10. It is very difficult for me to think of them as anything other than
the embodiment of evil. And, I know, as a liberal, I shouldn't even be thinking this way. Let me just say that they are "self-serving," and that the service of their selves requires money, in their eyes. And they will do anything to get it.

The ideology of capitalism; that people will always serve their best interests, takes prisoner those who do not serve the same cause. It takes prisoner those who care for their fellow man, as well as the co-habitant entities that share this planet with us all.

If the left wing's vision of a world of human beings that stand for the brotherhood of man; and for our species' inextricable unity with all creatures, has any chance of prevailing over the cold and selfishly inhuman view of the neocons, then we must have some heroes.

I think that Dean and Kucinich are two of those heroes.

It is against the law to promote violent revolution (did you know that?), but it is not against the law to promote revolution, itself.

And, I think that we all are responding here, to the call of revolution.

Let us all take a lesson from the good people of Iraq; not in their violence, but in their spirit. Let us hold up these people who symbolize our ideals; and not call, but SCREAM for change, as the Iraqi people do.

THEY will NOT be conquered.

Will we?

Sorry for the rant....I am just so petrified of Bush & Co. and so angry at it all...

12. Spot on!
But in addition, Clintom committed many other "crimes" that caused major wedges in the rethugs' knickers.

1 - Clinton was not one of "them." He came from working class stock, no wealth in the family.

2 - He was intellectually so far above the vast majority of rethugs that he terrified the bastards (Actually, I can't think of a single rethug who could match Clinton in this area); and

3 - He radiated sex-appeal to women who tended to drape themselves all over him like amorous blankets. This was offensive to those like Gingrich and Strom "Drooler" Thurmond who used their positions to intimate female pages in the house to suffer gropings and trysts in Gingrich's car.

13. Hell Yeah, I've thought the same for quite awhile now.
I also believe that's why they killed Kennedy. He saw the shadow people who really run things and he didn't like it or them. He was going to do the right thing by the people and not the war machine so they killed him. They moved from actually assassinating people to assassinating their character which can be just as deadly.
