AP has picked up Air America Story...
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 11:43 PM by bigwavebobby
NEW YORK - Just two weeks after launching, a new radio network aimed at liberal audiences suffered a setback Wednesday when a dispute with a business partner resulted in the network's signal being pulled from stations in Chicago and Los Angeles.

The owners of Air America Radio filed a lawsuit in New York's Supreme Court against the New York-based MultiCultural Radio Broadcasting Inc. after the radio company dropped Air America Radio's signal from its stations WNTD in Chicago and KBLA in Los Angeles.

MultiCultural Radio did not return phone calls for comment, but the Chicago Tribune quoted the company's owner, Arthur Liu, as saying that Air America bounced a check to them on Wednesday. Air America claims in its lawsuit that its payments are up to date.

"MultiCultural Radio Broadcasting's conduct in this matter has been disgraceful," Evan Cohen, the chairman of Air America Radio, said in a statement. "To shut off a broadcast that listeners rely on without warning and in the middle of discussions is the height of irresponsibility and a slap in the face of the media industry."

Air America claims in its lawsuit that MultiCultural Radio removed the network's signal in Chicago without notice and changed the locks on the station's offices.

Air America Radio launched March 31 in five cities around the country and on XM Satellite Radio with a slate of left-leaning talk radio and political satire, headlined by comedians Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo.

The network is still broadcasting in New York, Portland, Ore., and on a different station in Los Angeles, KCAA.

4. Gawd, don't read the Yahoo message board
for this article. Every repuke on Yahoo is there spreading disinfo like good little brownshirts. I wonder how they're going to react when they figure out that the check didn't bounce? Not that I really care all that much.

know they had a message board!

The freeps are retarded. Why would anyone that is a potential listener (i.e. not a freeptard) care what they say about it? There is a good chance many many potential listeners had no idea about the launch anyway. This story can only help spread the word. Heck if someone even moderately left of center sees all the freeptards talking about it they are likely to seek it out even more as a refuge from the tards.

The freepers delude themselves into thinking people don't see them as freaks. I mean, just look at their boy Bush. See they knew he was full of shit all along but didn't care. Just wanted some reality killing to watch and stuff. And they proudly proclaimed the whole nation was behind them. And now, after everything has been exposed as a complete lie the freepers are all alone again in their support of insanity.

maybe, maybe they'll do a follow-up and this "bounced check" bullsh*t will die and the freptards will have egg on their face (once again).

9. None of this matters to me
I believe (and you all may reject that belief as you wish) that Air America is laying the groundwork for something greater, and that these first few months will have several ups and downs.
So there is a flap and a freeper station owner got his panties in a bunch over the librul media- so what? We know that there are LOTS of us liberals out there, and that we have been waiting for this for a long time. We will continue to back Air America, and come fall when the race is on, watch Air America outlets sprout all over the face of our country in a bloom of democracy!

Wake up people, it's spring in America! Democracy is coming back, but don't expect it to arrive without a bit of bluster from those who oppose an open media.

Rush, Bill, Sean- no tactic you pull will dissuade us from airing our voices. This is our country too!
