Bush Contradicts Himself at his own Press Conference
THE DAILY MIS-LEAD

BUSH CONTRADICTS SELF AT HIS OWN PRESS CONFERENCE

During last night's prime time press conference, President Bush once again
claimed that "there was nobody in our government, at least, and I don't
think the prior government that could envision flying airplanes into
buildings" (1). But just minutes later at the same press conference the
president proved he was not telling the truth.

Specifically, Bush said the reason he supposedly requested intelligence
briefings before 9/11 "had to do with the Genoa G-8 conference I was going
to attend" in 2001. Bush was referring to the fact that, prior to that
conference, he was warned that "Islamic terrorists might attempt to kill him
and other leaders by crashing an airliner into the summit" meetings (2).

His statement that "the prior government" had not taken precautions against
terrorists using planes as weapons is also contradicted by the facts. The
Wall Street Journal recently reported that under President Clinton, "the
federal government had on several earlier occasions taken elaborate, secret
measures to protect special events from just such an attack" (3) after
receiving intelligence warnings (4).

At the press conference, Bush also claimed to have no "inkling whatsoever"
(5) about an attack before 9/11. But the Washington Post today reports that
newly-declassified information shows that the president did not just receive
one intelligence briefing about an imminent Al Qaeda attack, but "a stream"
of repeated warnings (6). In April and May 2001, for example, the
intelligence community titled some of those reports "Bin Laden planning
multiple operations," "Bin Laden network's plans advancing" and "Bin Laden
threats are real." The CIA explicitly told the Administration that upcoming
attacks would "occur on a catastrophic level, indicating that they would
cause the world to be in turmoil."

3. I disagree
Lying is difficult, especially when the lie is as convoluted and out of correlation with the truth as much as the ones coming out of the White House.

They must have a staff of people tasked just to keep track of all the lies, so they don't contradict each other, but there's too much 'lie chatter' to cover all the Senior Administrators.

Every now and then the truth or a contradiction slips through, but rest assured that the Bush* Administration is at War with Truth and will not stop until 1984!

12. Well, to be honest it's not in his department
What was it called? The Office of Strategic Misdirection or something similarly Orwellian?

I'm referring to the Pentagon's plan for a disinformation office that, after being announced, proceeded to begin by (falsely) announcing it's discontinuation.

Perhaps they need to 'stovepipe' this department to Cheney's office, like the Office for Strategic Plans.

2. How in the world his parents can be proud of this fruit cake.?
He has turned the Bush name into MUD.

They will not make a library after he leaves office, he has no papers as he does not read.

Instead, they will make a joke for him.

8. Its staggering
Its almost too much to get my head around - the scale of his failures and misleadings and arrogance - and the very real, enormous consequences to our country and the world and humanity.

If what has transpired because of his actions and inactions, because of his lies and secret dealings since "taking" office were a movie, I'd demand my money back for the sheer silly, unbelievable plot.

What this fraud and his gang have done, on so many fronts and on so many levels - the depths of the failures and the costs to us all - I just can't find the words...

A library? Maybe they could name a waste-water treatment plant after him. Or a prison.

4. tsk tsk. When you are a public figure,
Rule #1: Bear in mind that whatever you say, every statement you utter is subject to scrutiny. The tape recorder is ALWAYS ON. There's always someone in the background taking notes, keeping track of what you said at some prior date.

Rule #2: If you're going to lie, at least be consistent and don't change your story.

George Bush has been a public figure for quite some time now. I'm surprised he hasn't figured this out yet.

11. Here in Dallas, My sweet and I are feeling "BUSHWHACKED"!
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 12:59 AM by anarchy1999
Please keep in mind, we had him as "Gov" for a few years before this unfortunate country got him as our "selected" prez.

Drinking is good, it dulls the pain. I tried twice to get through his speech. I could not make it either time. First time sober, second, well, I had a few and it was very early in the am of Wednesday.

I just feel more by the day "we" don't have any time left. "We" don't have the luxury of waiting to vote "them" out. Cassandra here, signing out.
