Death (caused by war) and Taxes |
The first time i filed my taxes was the same year the rachel corrie was murdered. What really struck me was that she was killed by an american bulldozer.I realized that i had also been paying for the iraqi war/occupation .It sunk in that i have been contributing financilly to war tanks occupation aparthied walls guns bullets coups oppression and death.I find it cruelly ironic that the massacre at Jenin happened on americas tax day. i took a more active role after that and started to not just go to the protests and started to organize them and instead of attending conferrences and work shops i started to run them (i ran two workshops at an interfaith conference for peace in israel/palestine and met Naim Atteek!!) I met one quaker woman who has a college degree and works as a maid and gets paid under the table so she doesnt pay for any of the above .What do y'all think about paying taxes

2. your taxes also go to WIC, food stamps, Pell grants, etc |
Not to mention paying for the roads you drive on and the police you depend on. The solution is to try to change how the government spends our tax money, not to simply refuse to pay.
