Court Upholds Sheboygan County Sheriff's Drunken Driving Conviction
Loni Koenig Argued Trial Court Ruled Improperly

POSTED: 8:31 pm CDT April 14, 2004

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- An appeals court has upheld the drunken driving conviction of former Sheboygan County Sheriff Loni Koenig.

The District II Court of Appeals on Wednesday tossed out Koenig's arguments that the trial court did not properly rule on three issues she raised, involving a previous statement by a police officer, consent for police to enter her home and the procedure for arresting a sheriff.

(snip)

Three weeks after her arrest she lost her re-election bid in the Republican primary.
