8. Totaly sucks, too...
I knew Tom Daschle when he used to be a fighter.
He was a good man. Now...
(I still think he's scared of potential anthrax letters sent to his family.)

Heck, I quit trying to figure these idiots out long ago.

Maybe they are jealous that we all wear pink tutus? :eyes:

See? It makes no sense no matter how you look at it. You have to be stupid to understand half their swill.

9. We got our asses kicked in 2000?
That's not the way I remember it.

As I recall, Gore won the popular vote, but the Supreme Court handed the Presidency to Bush. Only the Congressional Black Caucus had the guts to stand against it in the House.

How do you remember it?

27. IMHO, and with all due respect, you're full of it...
...Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

You have obviously failed to grasp what actually took place in December 2000. If you truly understood those events, you would never have posted your remarks to this or any other board.

34. No one is "blaming the supremes"

It's the fault of several individuals.

Jeb Bush
Katherine Harris
and "The Supreme Court" vote 5-4 to allow the theft of election 2000.

25. No, damnit! YOU get with the program! Junior was GIVEN the White...
...House by a SCOTUS vote of 5-4. The NeoCons occupied the centers of US Government during the Coup of December 2000, and THOSE are the facts, pal. If YOU don't want to remember that, fine...but I want to remember it as one of the many reasons I absolutely HATE the NeoCons for what they've done to our country and for what they've done to our image in the international community.

But the primary reason I HATE them is because they are the reason for thousands of dead and wounded Americans, Iraqis, Afghans, British, and people of several other nationalities. They are the reason that thousands of people all over the world are grieving the loss of a loved one in wars that should NEVER have taken place.

YOU want to get over it? Fine. YOU do whatever you want...just don't ask anyone else to believe as you do.

17. Astounding revisionism...
- The EC votes simply didn't GO to Bush*...they were forced to his side when a partisan supreme court stopped the legal and Constitutional recount in Florida. And it wasn't a 'close race'. Gore kicked Bush's* ass in the popular vote...clearly showing that a majority of voters preferred him over the drunken sod.

- And let's not forget the pivotal role of Harris and brother Jeb.

29. And since we're being honest, please tell everyone here how...
...the electoral votes for each state are determined. Perhaps this webpage will help you formulate your discussion:

<http://www.fec.gov/pages/ecworks.htm>

I'm very interested to see how you address the voting irregularities in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Just in case you've forgotten how each of these states "voted", here is an excellent map of the election results:

7. Actually, the Term is Used by Partisan Democrats
in reference to other Democrats. A "pink tutu Democrat" is someone who is conciliatory to extreme partisan Republican initiatives and does not stand up fight for core Democratic principles.

10. Bartcop coined the term. iirc
It refers to how the democratic leadership refuses to stand on issues at the slightest sign of resistance.

For example, the 93 healthcare debacle. Clinton proposed it, the public wildly supported it, however in the face of the media whores, lying I might add, caved into Newt Gingrich's demonization of the plan. As a result, we still have no reasonable healthcare.

13. another excellent example of pink tutu-ism
... the democratic senators who voted to confirm
certifiable loons like John Ashcroft.

A strong, useful position for the Senate to have taken
on the confirmations issue would be something like,

"George:
1. You lost the popular vote.
2. You only won the electoral vote by judicial gaming.
3. Your party has a bare (1-seat) majority in the Senate.
4. Your party has a small advantage in the House.
5. Send us middle-of-the-roaders. Lunatics and
extremists are DOA."

J.

32. Absolutely correct!
I have no idea why those jerks rolled over and played dead. Bad enough that they did so after 9/11, but at least I can understand their morbid fear of being labeled "anti-American" during their next campaigns.

Their pathetic, fawning behavior immediately after * was inserted into the presidency is inexcusable. Someday I hope to hear some explanation.

22. I'm sorry, but terms like this are sexist
Pink tutu = acts like a woman

Or, it could even be homophobic:

Pink tutu = guy in a tutu = must be gay

Think about it.

28. Neither I nor any GM's or GW's I know have ever worn a tutu...
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 02:44 PM by comsymp
nor have most, if any, of the str8 women I know... and BC is strongly pro-gay, pro-women's equality.

Bottom line: doesn't bother me a bit- in fact, I agree with the characterization. Maybe it's because I'm offended by so many things our Government is doing in our names that my insult threshold is a tad too high.

There's a current thread here about local Second Harvest programs working with schools to send snacks home with poor kids so they'll have something to eat over the weekend. In the richest nation on Earth, I find that offensive.

Thousands of innocent people are being maimed and killed in Iraq, by invaders from the Shining City on the Hill- and our Watchdogs of Democracy don't want to discuss it (another GD thread). That's beyond offensive, it's obscene.

The American people have been misled into supporting this killing by the continuous lies of a government which stole its way into power. They demonize, humiliate and endanger anyone who attempts to blow the whistle on their deceit and ineptitude. THAT'S offensive.

The USA PATRIOT Act, AG Ashcroft/SG Olson, NCLB, the WOUD, the evisceration of environmental, health and labor standards in the US- most of which were supported by "our" Congressional Dems- are far, FAR more troubling to me than the image of Tom Daschle in a tutu.

Of course, my lack of concern over any possible sexist/homophobic undertones could just be because he's never photoshopped Barney Frank or Gloria Steinem into one....

EDIT: CTFS today

35. it's not sexist... it's truthful
they're punks... they don't stand in the middle of their truth and proclaim it--and take their asswhipping for their beliefs... they want to do the nicey-nicey with the rethug predatory politicos, thinking that if they pet the snarling monster, it will calm down and play nice... well the snarling monster has bitten off the arm they've offered and is looking, quite greedily, at the other one plus the two legs plus the torso.

The reason why Dems are in the run-and-fetch position they're in is because they grossly underestimated the rapacious ferocity of the rethugs, and the lengths to which they would eventually go to silence opposition. No one has the stones to stand up and dish it back because they're bamboozled by the "oh, play nice now.." attitude that has mired the Democratic party in uber-pc behavior.
