Remember -- watch Peter Jennings tonight -- "gov't whistleblower"
It has something to do with pre-9/11 "warnings" -- I only caught the ad for this once last night. (And my post about it sank quickly out of sight.)

Here's what I posted last night:

the topic has to do with "explosive" information

about how much MORE was actually known pre-9/11.

It's kind of mind blowing, it truly appears that ABC has turned. Just showing that John O'Neill segment on Nightline -- I mean, that is so NOT what the media has been doing over the last 3 years.

It's quite fascinating, imho. When I found out that ABC News had hired Richard Clarke as a "consultant", it seemed to me that they were firing a VERY clear broadside to bushco.

SOMEONE in the Oligarchy that actually rules our country has decided to bring down Bush, I just don't think that a corporate media outlet like ABC would be broadcasting this sort of thing otherwise.

And not ONLY that, Ted Koppel urged viewers at the end of the O'Neill segment to be sure to tune into PBS's Frontline tomorrow night (Thurs. 4/15) for "an excellent" documentary on O'Neill.

Time to get a fix on all the owners of ABC (and parent companies, etc.). This will give us an idea of which faction of Oligarchs has become unhappy with the little emperor.

If you didn't catch the O'Neill segment on last night's Nightline, I hope you'll make the effort to look up the transcript. If you wish to view video, the O'Neill segment is the 2nd of three, and starts about 13-15 minutes after the start of the program.

3. Whatever time your ABC affiliate shows the National News
Here it's on at 5:30 pm CDT, after the 5:00 local news.

Just brought up their pre-ad break teaser, this "explosive" info has to do with "who's financing terrorists".

Waiting to see....

4. sorry, but that ONeill story on PBS SUCKED HARD!
it was a soap opera, centering much more on his gaudy lifestyle, his rocky career, which they say was much his fault

it really really pissed me off

not nearly enough about how scandalously horridly the FBI 'bungled' things.

watch tonight and see what you think

I was PISSED as HELL when I saw it

6. I didn't catch all of it the first time
I, of course, neither had nor have any great expectations of hard-hitting revelations, but it's still interesting, imho, to see what the corporate media IS willing to let out, when one already knows considerably more of the story.

11. I disagree
There's some VERY valuable in it. The "personal life" stuff was just a very small part.

12. fine.....refresh my memory with some examples, please
personal life a very small part?

if you taped it, try doing a minute count on all the stuff like his popularity at Elaine's, his taste in clothes, whiskey, his high profile lifestyle alienating his bosses/co-workers

bet it's more than you thought

please cite some stuff you haven't read here, aside from Yemeni ambassador's perfidy.

did they mention she's a rethug?

I don't remember hearing that on the show.

somebody else mentioned there's other stuff about her out there, relating to 911, specifically

I may be remembering it wrong, but the impression with which I'm left remains very negative......in terms of opportunity squandered, as if this was almost an inoculation.....designed to let them say, well, we COVERED this already, when they just scratched the surface

13. I'm too busy watching this
Your opinion does not concern me. I merely disagree with your making active attempts to discourage people from watching this show.

Why shouldn't people be ENCOURAGED to watch and judge for themselves? What makes you think that YOUR analysis/criticism constitutes the best last word on the matter?

where do I EVER discourage anyone from watching???

huh?

I'm giving my opinion here; disappointed on the whole, but have admitted there's some valuable info....maybe not on this thread, but, since there are at least four, maybe, five threads on this.....

point is DON't put words in my mouth

OK?

please?

thank you

7. Echo Bay Mining company
since has been bought out by a Canadian company. The DOJ is going to review the decision not to investigate now. Probably because it's no longer owned by a bushbud.

Although, actually, I thought the report about the FDA's suppression of a study showing a possible increase in suicide by teenagers taking anti-depressants was just as interesting...

Geez, who let the dogs out? It's like they're doing real news or something...

Blood Money
Former Exec: American Company
Paid Terrorist Group to Protect
Overseas Interests

By Brian Ross and Rhonda Schwartz

April 13 — Before his company sent him overseas, Allan Laird, a former Denver- based mining executive, had never heard of Abu Sayyaf.

As Laird quickly learned when he arrived in the Philippines, Abu Sayyaf is one of the world's most-feared terrorist organizations, closely connected to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.

Laird said he also soon discovered the company for whom he formerly worked, Echo Bay, was regularly paying Abu Sayyaf and other terror groups in the Philippines in exchange for protection of its gold-mining operations. Laird calls the practice "corporate support of terrorism."

...

Laird was sent to the Philippines in 1996 by Echo Bay as project manager of a start-up gold mine on the island of Mindanao, home turf for the terrorists, who demanded what Echo Bay called "revolutionary taxes."

By paying off the terrorists, Laird said, the company was "buying safety for the people inside and for the project."

But the price was high. In addition to the cash, Laird said the company provided the terrorists with weapons, medical treatment for the wounded, and access at times to a beachfront company guest house used to hide key terror leaders.

9. Thanks for posting that link!
And I agree, the segment on children and anti-depressants is also important.

14. So why wasn't Jennings on tonight?
I was a bit disappointed. There was also nothing about an FBI whistleblower. Wonder what happened.

Or there was a sub for Jennings? They never showed the story?

18. Yes, there was a sub for Jennings
Can't think of her name offhand....and no, there was nothing about a whistleblower on tonight's news. I even looked at ABC's list of shows for the evening and nothing about Jennings or a whistleblower.
