the time is now!

symbolman, american stranger, will pitt, NNN0LHI, kskiska all of the stalwarts here. You all have got to stand up and take the lead on this Iraq disaster. Rally all your troops, Nostamj, round em up, come on you guys its time to go..........

Mari333, Stephanie, Calimary, Hedda, BevHarris, Tinoire (sp?),DeepModem Mom, liberalnproud, God the list just goes on, I can't remember everyone. Let me please not forget ozymandius and the daily stock market thread, along with everyone that keeps it going all day.

There is TIA and trumad, paul and 911, where would we all be without one another? Just drifting, I suspect, in our own little communities. That is okay.

To the founders of DU, I give a huge shout out to. In the last week I watched 1000 new members sign up. I long for the old days when there were only 12,000+ members. But growth, is good. That is what we are all here for, we've been seeking knowledge and community and we are here to share.

S
Peace Out

There are so many names I've left out, BPilgrim, RBHam (something's happening here), BeHereNow.

There's a project. The 3 year+ club.................

Love to you all and please, please I know we can stop it. I want our soldiers home now. I want our National Guard and Reserve Units Home Now, to protect our shores and our country. I want my "Homeland Security". I just do not want any if's, and's, or but's on this issue.

Go to google and read "War is a Racket" by Major General Smedley Butler, awarded 2 Congressional Medals of Honor, Retired Oct 1, 1931.

"WAR IS A RACKET" is the name of one of his books.

WAR IS A RACKET

WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.

In the World War a mere handful garnered the profits of the conflict. At least 21,000 new millionaires and billionaires were made in the United States during the World War. That many admitted their huge blood gains in their income tax returns. How many other war millionaires falsified their tax returns no one knows.

How many of these war millionaires shouldered a rifle? How many of them dug a trench? How many of them knew what it meant to go hungry in a rat-infested dug-out? How many of them spent sleepless, frightened nights, ducking shells and shrapnel and machine gun bullets? How many of them parried a bayonet thrust of an enemy? How many of them were wounded or killed in battle?

Out of war nations acquire additional territory, if they are victorious. They just take it. This newly acquired territory promptly is exploited by the few – the selfsame few who wrung dollars out of blood in the war. The general public shoulders the bill.

And what is this bill?

This bill renders a horrible accounting. Newly placed gravestones. Mangled bodies. Shattered minds. Broken hearts and homes. Economic instability. Depression and all its attendant miseries. Back-breaking taxation for generations and generations.

For a great many years, as a soldier, I had a suspicion that war was a racket; not until I retired to civil life did I fully realize it. Now that I see the international war clouds gathering, as they are today, I must face it and speak out.

Now, EVERYONE TO YOUR PHONES, FAXES AND E-MAIL LISTS! WE HAVE A CITY TO SAVE, OR AT LEAST WHAT IS LEFT OF IT. I can't stand the thought of there not being a Fallujah. I do not want a repeat of WWII.

This just may be DU's moment to make a big difference. We all have so many contacts, so many sources, we can make an impact. Please I'm begging for help. We just can not let our government, our administration, our military, and our kids, wipe out this town, in our name, or for the sake of freedom or democracy.

START TO OPEN YOUR WINDOWS AND YELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO MORE!!

If we only just start to bombard them. I believe it can be done. I have to believe in myself and all of you here. We can make a difference.

ps/ The Regime is weak and vulnerable. If we do not hit now and hit hard it will be game over.

2. I tried to edit and give a shout out to more DU'ers, ran out of time
Edited on Sat Apr-17-04 07:50 AM by anarchy1999
so here it is:

Tahiti Nut, Seventhson, RevCarol, KoKo, Wonk, JanMichael, IrateC and the list just goes on and on. Please all of you, we can stop this, I have to believe we can!

I know there are many more I have failed to list. Join with and let's really make this stop. Am I a fool to believe we can?

How could I leave off MoPaul? I am sooo sorry for all I have not given a shout out to, but I know you are there and are connected with those that I have.

YOU GUYS, WE HAVE TO DO THIS, PLEASE. FOR THE SAKE OF THIS TOWN AND FOR THE SAKE OF OUR POOR SOLDIERS (God Bless Their Souls-tongue in cheek, I am disturbed by how much a number of them enjoy the "kill"),
WE CAN END THIS HUMANITARIAN DISASTER!

Why did I know last year, when I woke up on the morning of April 29th and read about what had happened in this town, did I know it would come to this? Because I know our military mindset. And I know how I would feel as a mother, a father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle of someone that was slain that day, 4/28/03 or in the weeks that followed. If I lived in this town, if I had lost relatives, I would be VIVA LA RESISTANCE!
