Did the international inspectors know how many weapons Saddam had...? |
|
..before we invaded? And, by extension, did we know how many weapons Saddam had? We had inspectors there for many, many years and I doubt that there were few assets that the inspectors did not know about. And we knew they were defenseless when we invaded. We knew they were an easy target, because we had inspectors telling us what and where any weapons were and they also said that there were no WMDs. So, in proper perspective, we were not fighting a mighty army and we knew it before hand. Why is that important?
Because, once again, we were deceived as a nation. We were made to believe that our troops would be attacked with chemicals, gases, etc. In reality, there was slight opposition on our march to Baghdad. Most of the Iraqi Army simply dissolved. And we even had information about that before the invasion.
Although it has now turned ugly, the invasion itself was an easy task. Because we knew how many fish were in the barrel and we knew where they were at in the barrel. One we got to Baghdad and the war "dragged on" then the Iraqi people had time to gather their forces and ,with outside help, we are now in our present dilemma.

You don't really think this is all happening with just Iraqi's do you? Iran, Syria, who knows who all is helping Iraq. Just like in Vietnam.
