1. Is this book going to be worth reading? |
|
I think there was a lot of good information in Bush at War, but it was so insanely sycophantic that it made it difficult to get through. How bad is this one going to be. The good part about Woodward's books is that you're getting the information from first sources. The bad part is that first sources often lie.

for bush by a dear, loyal friend. Woodward's account of the run-up to war casts doubts upon Paul O'Neill's timeline. Also, Woodward seems to imply bush is a thinking individual when he questions the intelligence about Iraq:
" Woodward tells Mike Wallace. "The president listens to all of this and McLaughlin's done. And and the president kind of, as he's inclined to do, says, 'Nice try,' but that isn't going to sell Joe Public. That isn't going to convince Joe Public."
I mean, who can really hear bush saying that? Woodward is lying and this book has the Whitehouse blessing.

4. yeah, it all stinks to high heaven |

every quote I've seen doesn't get past my nose.
It all sounds like total bullshit.
Especially the BUsh "quotes". Bush doesn't talk like that AT ALL.

3. The spin will probably be: "he's just trying to appear on TV |
|
in front of the 9/11 commission!"
(a play on the Richard Clarke "he's saying this just to sell a book" spin)

5. I have a question about Tenet's supposed "It's a slam dunk" statement. |
|
I'm assuming that the Director of the CIA was not interviewed by Woodward but * was. Is * the one claiming that Tenet said it was a "slam dunk" or is it just an "anonymous" source?

6. Everything worth knowing was in the blurbs - save your money for |
|
Joseph Willson's book (or if you don't have them - Clarke's, Conason, Franken, mark green/Alterman - you know - books written by other than Bush shills. If you do like buying books by W's shills, why not go all the way and buy Karen Hugues's?
