7. Are they enemy combatants now?
Oh, my goodness. Can we lock them up without lawyer or trial and throw away the key?

The potential for turnabout is momentarily scrumptious.

6. Is Iraq a Preview of America ?
After the 2004 elections, with the country as bitterly polarized as it is, what will happen? If Kerry wins by by a small majority will the Freepers start blowing up things? If Bush steals the election again, even more blatently, will we have to resort to open rebellion?
I pity my poor country.

12. Yes, Kerry will have to worry. But so will George.
If George is re-elected, he will be impeached.

Keep in mind: BBV requires some cooperation from state political machines. But even Republican governors feel shafted by BushCo. The possibility that crucial states will not cooperate as they did last time is a looming problem for BushCo.

20. yes - but that appears to be the result the owners of the media want
Never has there been a more incompetent President - and never has the media worked so hard to cover up for him.

13. the ABC story
Edited on Sat Apr-17-04 05:59 PM by G_j
said she has received hundreds of hate mails laced with obscenities and numerous death threats. This morning she received a call to her home saying they would blow up her house. Then they showed Delay calling for her resignation.

the freepers are blaming her for 9-11 after Ashcroft blamed her in his testimony for putting up a wall between intellegence and law enforcement.

29. this kind of crap definitely needs more publicity
all I hear is about the "angry democrats". I don't hear about too many democrats making death threats.

It's time to punch a few people in the teeth. If these cowardly fucks would ever actually show their faces, that is.

15. Death, Christianity, Defense
Edited on Sat Apr-17-04 06:20 PM by higher class
Her death threat is excessive hate and partisan politics at its worst.

It is also hypocritical Christianity in action.

The President should explain that she was given an assignment to write the intentions of people who came before her, in legal language.
The President should stand up and say that she was selected for his 9=11 Commission and that he is not going to fire her because she has done noting wrong. Supposedly, the other members of the Commission have already said that they are not going to allow her to resign.

16. The right wing nuts have been pounding her all week!
It was to divert attention from the real issue: how the Bush admin failed miserably to prevent 9/11.

Asshcroft went after her, because he was in trouble this week.

What bothers me is, there is no Dem response to these hate campaigns.
The Freepers, & friends ruled the airwaves this week with their propaganda, & allowed the subject to be changed.

I listen to Washington Journal on C-Span every AM, & I can always tell by the callers when the propagandists have been at work. You get call after call, of Bush bots spewing the party line, & really doing it in a hateful way, which fires them up, even more.

The Dems need some organized response to these lies & smears & hate.

18. I saw this article about dems
defending Gorelick in the Washington Times:

Congressional Democrats yesterday defended Jamie S. Gorelick's position on the September 11 commission, one day after a leading House Republican called for her resignation.
Several top Democratic leaders cited the continued support of Commission Chairman Thomas H. Kean, the former Republican governor of New Jersey, in stating their support for Ms. Gorelick.

"The senator agrees with Chairman Kean," said David Smith, spokesman for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat. Ms. Gorelick "is a distinguished member of the commission and the senator has every confidence that, if necessary, she will recuse herself from those particular aspects of the commission's work" that pertain to her earlier Justice Department role in the Clinton administration.
On Wednesday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. called for her resignation from the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States.

I haven't been watching the news much, but based on what you said I think you're right, we need a more organized effort.

22. The Commission needs to take a stand against the right wing attacks.
I sent this email to the Commission and the Family Liason group.
I have seen many news stories recently featuring elected officials and political pundits attacking the integrity and bipartisan work of the Commission and certain Commissioners. These co-ordinated attacks and the attackers need to be met head on and discredited. If you chose to ignore the attacks and try to appear that you are rising above the filth, it will fester like an infection and ultimately will be used throughout future history to discredit the work of the Commission . Twenty or thirty years from now the Commission and its report will be seen as laughable and dishonest failures. I believe that would be a tragedy. Please do not allow the work of the Commission to be destroyed by the foulest filth American politics has to offer.

The more successful the right wing is in using vicious attacks to discredit any criticism, the more vicious and frequent the attacks will become. They may someday go too far, but that hasn't happened yet.

25. ASHCROFT ADOPTED THE EXACT SAME POLICY THAT
Goherlick did in a memorandum. His deputy copied it verbatum as one of Ashcroft's "policies" in February 2001. And the original memorandum merely restated the policy since the Reagan administration. Also, Jamie said she disclosed this to the commision. And doofus hand picked her. I wish the commissionor the DNC would get organized and properly defend her.

I hope she sticks it out. If Bush was a real man, he would publically condemn those losers who are threatening that poor woman. God Bless her.

31. Delay and Integrity??????
Tom/The Roach Delay calling for her resignation to maintain the integrity of the Commission......what a joke. Delay should have been booted out for all the dirty underhanded deals he has been doing nevermind condemnation for his actions as a Congressman/Representative of the people of Texas and the Nation. He makes a mockery of our Democracy. I would place a bet that The Roach and Asscroft had a lot to do with the death threats. The freepers need someone to follow....they aren't capable of thinking on their own.
