Wyoming's Teton County Is U.S. Wealthiest

JACKSON, Wyo. - For the fourth time in six years, Teton County — gateway to Yellowstone National Park and home to the likes of Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) — is the wealthiest in America.

Many wealthy people move to Jackson for its myriad outdoor activities and culture, real estate broker Bob Graham said.

"You can go through the long list of deep powder, good golf, world-class fly fishing, the museum, the symphony," he said.
The list is not paramount, though.

"It's second only to the enormous tax advantage the state of Wyoming offers," Graham said.
Wyoming has no personal or corporate income tax and relatively low property taxes thanks to revenue from mining.

1. Until Yellowstone blows, that is
Let's hope Cheney and the rest of the neo-fascists are there when it happens.

2. Cheney does own a home in Jackson Hole...
But rarely goes there. When he was chosen as VP, he wasn't living in Wyoming (was in Texas) and quickly had to buy property because the VP couldn't be from the same state as the shrub.

When Yellowstone "blows", so will a great portion of the mid-west.

3. Sorry, wasn't thinking clearly...
I certainly don't want any harm to come to anyone other than members of the * administration. Maybe we could just offer up Cheney to appease the gods of Yellowstone and all will be well...It wouldn't be much of a sacrifice on the behalf of all thinking, feeling Americans.

What is the population density of that area anyway? I thought Yellowstone (if it blew) would only immediately affect people within a 50 mile radius of the caldera, and have severe, though not immediate geological effects within a 200-300 mile radius, with lesser effects radiating outward to the rest of the country. Correct me if I am wrong (I probably am, as this is a compiliation of info from various sources).

4. From what I've read...
It is possible for an area greater than 5oo mile radius to be totally destroyed and the resulting debris and ash to quickly cover much farther. The Yellowstone caldera itself covers a 50 mile radius. It may or may not blow with in the next 100,000 years.

I'm thinking a lightning bolt may be our best bet. Much cleaner for the environment! }(
