Another small but very hopeful sign |
|
(or it could mean the world is about to end)
My friend's dad, who will be 83 this summer, has never in his life voted anything but a Republican. In fact, this guy is the first Depression era person I ever met who didn't at least support FDR - that's how Republican he is.
Anyway, he announced this week that, as much as it pains him because he thinks Kerry is too liberal, he will be voting for Kerry (or as he says, against Bush).

5. There's Something In The Air |
|
I felt it in the air today when I was driving around to all the Bake Back The Whitehouse bake sales.
You can feel it. People GETTING IT! These were not lifelong democrats attending these.
Granted this is L.A. and it is a pretty liberal town compared to most. But there is something in the air. Unlike the 2000 election events I attended, these were non-political people, they are SICK AND TIRED OF BEING LIED TO.
I honestly believe that by the time the election comes the majority of the US population will SCREAM...WE'RE MAD AS HELL AND WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANY MORE!

6. They are also upset ... |
|
because no matter what the question, Bush's reply is almost always one of 3 or 4 sentences. You'd think with fewer than a half-dozen post 9/11 news conferences he'd have more time to at least MAKE UP some more sentences.

7. The second depression era Republican not to vote for FDR |
|
was my dad. My father isn't alive today, but I know he would have been horrified with BushCo. He was a veteran of WWI, a Republican because he really believed you had to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and he did, but I know he would have hated Bush and if he is looking after me in the afterlife, he won't be angry with me anymore for being a Democrat.

9. And a little snicker from Austin . . . . |
|
Our store manager is pretty right wing, but an absolutely loveIy person who is filled with kindness.
Her problem, as I see it, is her husband's being tuned into rightwing radio and Faux News (So that's all she hears) and a deep-seated aversion to abortion.
Well, I was driving her over to Costco today to add her to our business account there, and we passed Sam's Club on the way.
She exclaimed, "Dammit, I meant to go to Sam's today for Karen Hughes' book-signing. I wanna ask her how she could let Bush appear at that press conference so unprepared!"
I managed to keep from laughing, but it wasn't easy. :)

12. Two days after my Conservative stepdad changed his mind about Nixon... |

Nixon resigned. Because his own told him to go.
That has to be what happens here. The Republicans have to turn on him.
