I urge all DU'ers to contacht their representative in congress - particularly if they are represented by a member of the republican majority. My letter:
Dear Representative Pelosi,
I urge you as minority leader in the House of Representatives to introduce to the floor a bill of impeachment against President Bush. It seems evident that there is now sufficient evidence to prove that the president has lied to the American people on a number of occasions. These lies involve not just the war in Iraq, but also the what he knew in the period leading up to the 9/11 attacks. As a San Franciscan I'm sure that you've already seen todays edition of the Chronicle which provides detailed information about one instance of lying which could provide the basis for an impeachment proceeding against the president. Nearly 700 U.S. soldiers and thousands of innocent Iraqis have lost their lives in a war that did not need to happen. The city of Fallujah in Iraq is under siege and many additional lives may be lost due to this administrations conspiracy to illegally occupy a sovereign country that has committed no act of aggression against us. Since this conspiracy clearly involved the office of the Vice President the impeachment bill should include an indictment against Vice President Cheney.
I urge you to do all in your power to prevent additional bloodshed in Fallujah and that serious negotiations be undertaken to free the Americans held hostage by the Iraqi resistance fighters. If a prisoner exchange can be arranged to save their lives then I implore you to do everything in your power to see that this is done.
