4. According to our organizer, the Chelsea Bakesale made $1549.79
Well, a beautiful Saturday and the table was right in the path of shoppers on their way to Western Beef and Chelsea Market. Not to mention it was opposite the bike shop where everybody refills tires.

I didn't have to courage to ask if all my shortbread and chewy pralines sold. The price on the pralines was $3 each for small but filling rectangles.

5. Congratulations! Here in Seattle....
Here in Seattle I went to the sale hosted by Lighthouse Espresso - they had a fantastic spread of baked goods, and they offered a full espresso menu for free, asking for donations instead.

I don't know how well they did but there was a house in the neighborhood that had a sale and said they made $700 - so I'm guessing Lighthouse Espresso did several times that amount.

I am so excited to see how well the sales did overall.

10. report says nationally over $200,000
SAN FRANCISCO --Raising money to unseat President Bush was a cakewalk Saturday, when a liberal advocacy group said it organized at least 1,000 bake sales nationwide to raise money for the effort.

The MoveOn political action committee, the political branch of MoveOn.org, coordinated bake sales from Maine to Hawaii that offered such treats as Beat Bush Brownies and No C.A.R.B. (Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, Bush) Meringues. Early estimates Saturday placed the national tally for the bake sales at about $250,000.

"We wanted to do a fund-raiser, but we wanted to do it fresher and with a twist," said Adam Ruben, field director of MoveOn PAC. "This is a great way to engage a lot of people who have signed a petition online but haven't done anything in their neighborhood."

Ruben said a single e-mail to the MoveOn.org list was all it took to recruit 10,000 volunteers for "Bake Back the White House" in less than a week.
