essay: Bush stayed on vacation in summer of 2001 in spite of warning
Bush has spent 40% of his Presidency on vacation. He was vacationing when he was sent a document titled, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." on August 6, 2001. He relaxed at golf the next day and stayed on vacation for weeks. His 2001 summer vacation went from August 4 to August 31.

Recently, during his April 13, 2004 press conference, Bush said he didn't do more because the warning was "mainly history."

1. You mean, *because* of the warning...
he was in hiding, taking the longest vacation of any prez to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.

3. Good point.
I hadn't thought of that.

Everything I read or hear about the POTUS depresses me. I can't wait to vote this chimp out.

I don't think anyone high up thought the threat was over on Aug. 31, 2001, when he returned to Washington.

2. except for changing
security measures at the G8 conference after the PDB. Seems G8 security decided to make sure commercial jets could not be used as missles shortly after this *historical* briefing. Hmmm I guess that's what they emant by no *actionable intelligence*

8. The PDB is issued daily — right?

Security action a month prior to the Aug.'01 PDB would be proof that there were earlier serious warnings on previous PDBs!

Yes, I just meant that July 2001 Genoa security wasn't a reaction to the August 6, 2001 PDB.

Genoa security may have been influenced by earlier PDBs which aren't public.
