A big fat lie from Bush and Rove.
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 06:48 AM by trumad
Lie and then wait several months to admit the lie and Moron America will never know....

Lie Number One: Bush and the Navy October 29, 2003
Attention turned Tuesday to a giant "Mission Accomplished" sign that stood behind Bush aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln when he gave the speech May 1.

The president told reporters the sign was put up by the Navy, not the White House.

"I know it was attributed somehow to some ingenious advance man from my staff -- they weren't that ingenious, by the way," the president said Tuesday.

Now his statements are being parsed even further.

Navy and administration sources said that though the banner was the Navy's idea, the White House actually made it.

Lie number two: (actually the truth maybe) Karl Rove April 16, 2004
President Bush’s top political adviser said this week that he regretted the use of a “Mission Accomplished” banner as a backdrop for the president’s landing on an aircraft carrier last May to mark the end of major combat operations in Iraq.

“I wish the banner was not up there,” White House political strategist Karl Rove said Thursday at an editorial board meeting with The Columbus Dispatch in Ohio. “I’ll acknowledge the fact that it has become one of those convenient symbols.”

1. Yup, they know nothing of "convenient symbols"
Rove said "I’ll acknowledge the fact that it has become one of those convenient symbols."

:eyes:

Dean's scream
Kerry at an anti-war rally with Fonda
ruined WTC as a backdrop
multiple lapel flags
Don't Mess With Texas
big ass belt buckles
clearing brush
Stepford wife
flag-draped coffins

Oops! How did that last one slip in there?

2. It didn't slip in.
It's over flow, spillage from the real world.

5. That Made Page 20 Here...Sheesh
My wife brought down the Saturday Sun-Times and asked me if I saw that quote. I hadn't seen it here and had she not pointed it out, this probably would have been the first mention.

Talk about spreading out the manure...when this story first came out (about who put the banner up there and the Navy's original denial) the GOOPs went into full frenzy attack mode (mild by current standards)..."how dare anyone question the motives of our pResident" crap...then when the lie finally gets verified, the story is toned down...downplayed...joked about...burried. Now this is the final act...the dedication of the tombstone.

Rove admits it was a mistake, but doesn't say squat about what's happened in the aftermath...or to go into the whole reason for that photo-op. No responsibility whatsoever for the blood on his hands.

As usual, it's not the lie that Repugnicans hate, it's getting caught!

6. Republicans are going to steal the Election Again in Ohio if we
don't stop them!
this is from the same article you posted. This is what I see happening our stupid corporatista media and the lazy corporate sell out whores will have the corporatista media viewers eyes manipulated towards Florida meanwhile Republicans will steal it in Ohio. They will also be yapping about how close the election is I see that as a form of manipulating the corporatista viewers so they will buy into ANOTHER stolen election of course I know the Evil DU'ers won't fall for their lies!

Rove also predicted that “we’re going to win Ohio comfortably” in the race against Bush’s Democratic rival, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

The Bush campaign is “building the greatest grass-roots apparatus that Ohio has ever seen,” Rove said. The state’s 20 electoral votes could determine the election.

“I don’t mean that it’s going to be close,” Rove said. “What I mean is, it’s going to be where everybody is going to be paying a lot of time and attention. I think we’re going to win Ohio comfortably, but I do think that Democrats are going to contest it strongly.”

This the state where the Diebold guy O'Dell promised the election to *Bush.
Ohio, I fear is going to be Florida 2000 all over again only this time it will be BBV instead of hanging chads and the cleansing of the voter roles!
http://www.pww.org/article/articleview/4642/1/197/
<snip>An Aug. 28, 2003, Cleveland Plain Dealer article quoted Walden O’Dell who said he is “committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to in 2004.” O’Dell is the chairman of the board of Diebold Election Systems, the second largest company in the U.S. that counts votes … our votes. O’Dell is also a member of the Rangers and the Pioneers, those who have contributed the most money to the Bush campaign.

On occasion, O’Dell hangs out at the Bush ranch in Crawford, Texas. He hosted a $600,000 fundraiser for the Bush-Cheney campaign in Ohio in which Cheney was the featured speaker. Questions began to swirl about Diebold’s vote-counting machines soon after they began securing lucrative contracts under George W. Bush’s “Help America Vote Act” (HAVA), which provides $3.9 billion to the states to help finance a total shift to so-called direct-recording electronic (DRE) voting by 2006.</snip>
