1. I ditched my gay Republican friend ages ago..I found his support

for Bush & Co disgusting but his wavering about Bush because of the gay marriage debabe just too disgusting..he could vote for an invasion of Iraq and 1000's of deaths but said he may change his vote because of self interest. Sorry but I couldn't stomach it.!!

John Karczynski, vice-chair of the Orange County chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans, said he was disappointed in Bush's support for the amendment.

"I'm still voting for Bush ... but I have serious issues with the current team the president has put around him to cultivate the religious-right support," he said.

A lot of gay Republicans intend to stay with Bush, but they will vote "with their eyes closed," Karczynski added.

10. I conjecture that there are Gays who are just as prejudiced as

any bigoted American who supports Republicans because they think that that party represents in a sort of a wink and nod way an America pre-1954 ... and, often "old money" just happens to intersect with that mindset ... but, not necessarily.

I think the LCRs claimed they delivered 25% to Bush in 2000. My conjecture above would not include all 25% of those claimed votes ... but, a small % ... but, existing.

There are some gay Republicans who vote with their pocketbook...they're wealthy and they like Bush's tax cuts. They'll be willing to ignore Bush's diasterous stance on gay issues solely because of Bush's economic policies.

I think they're traitors to the GLBT community, also. We don't really need creeps like Andrew Sullivan who will blindly follow Bush in spite of his support on FMA.

12. Just Because

I just hosted a gay republican in my home two weekends ago. He was exposed to a lot of the Democratic activism that I do lately, and of course his political views were questioned. It surprises me to see that so many people are convinced that social class is the only reason why these gay people vote Republican.

My friend has no strong political viewpoints, no world-view, and clearly no interest in day to day activities of how his country is managed. His family is blue collar, he is blue collar, his family has always voted Republican and that is why he will too.

He did say that he won't be voting for Bush in the upcoming election because of the "gay marriage thing" but the rest of our discussions were just hopeless exercises in asking him to explore his political reasonings. There were no reasons, other than the fact that this was the way it always was and the way it will always be for him.
