Gay Republicans Say Its Hard to Back Bush (Idiots!)
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 07:16 AM by trumad
<snip>
Gay Republicans are stung by President Bush's support for a ban on same-sex marriages and are divided over where to turn in November, with many weighing party loyalty against outrage.

Oh my Borigard, how can he do this too us...

<snip>
"It's difficult for me to reconcile him having turned his back on an organization that supported him," said Gardner, who was among an estimated 1 million gays who voted for the president four years ago.

Yes Borigard, the Conservative Right Wing Christan Republican let us down...

<snip>
The Log Cabin Republicans have aired 30-second TV ads in several states featuring Vice President Dick Cheney and a remark he made in a debate four years ago: "People should be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to enter into."

Oh Borigard, Dick Cheney lied to us! I think I may faint!

<snip>
Chris Barron, political director for the Log Cabin Republicans, said it's unclear whether the group will endorse Bush. A decision by its 23-member board is expected around the time of the GOP's national convention in New York, which begins Aug. 30.

"We would never endorse a Democrat," Barron said.

Oh Borigard, our fellow Republicans want to slap us down and keep us in the closet but we will never vote for those nasty Democrats!

1. I ditched my gay Republican friend ages ago..I found his support
for Bush & Co disgusting but his wavering about Bush because of the gay marriage debabe just too disgusting..he could vote for an invasion of Iraq and 1000's of deaths but said he may change his vote because of self interest. Sorry but I couldn't stomach it.!!

( still have my leftie gay friends though)

4. There are many rich gay people who want to keep their Bush tax cut...
...for the wealthy that they know Kerry is going to cancel perhaps? Just a guess?

5. Is this the article?
http://customwire.ap.org/dynamic/stories/G/GAY_REPUBLICANS?SITE=HIHAD&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

John Karczynski, vice-chair of the Orange County chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans, said he was disappointed in Bush's support for the amendment.

"I'm still voting for Bush ... but I have serious issues with the current team the president has put around him to cultivate the religious-right support," he said.

A lot of gay Republicans intend to stay with Bush, but they will vote "with their eyes closed," Karczynski added.

6. I thought most Log Cabin Republicans voted Republican for
"class" reasons: that is, they identified with Republicans because they were mainly upper,upper middle class. Is there any chance that they have been affected adversely by Bush policies, and this could be part of the reason they are considering not voting for Bush...because, IMHO, Bush has ALWAYS been one homophobic sob

Are their economic fortunes all of a sudden making them wake up to reality?

10. I conjecture that there are Gays who are just as prejudiced as
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 08:44 AM by cosmicdot
any bigoted American who supports Republicans because they think that that party represents in a sort of a wink and nod way an America pre-1954 ... and, often "old money" just happens to intersect with that mindset ... but, not necessarily.

I think the LCRs claimed they delivered 25% to Bush in 2000. My conjecture above would not include all 25% of those claimed votes ... but, a small % ... but, existing.

http://www.logcabincolumbus.org/VOTE%20ANALYSIS.htm

Shedding of any percentage of the claimed votes only trends toward Democrats ... Bush can't afford to loose any of that 25%, especially in states too close to call.

8. It's sort of like a man supporting a candidate that says
"I want to cut your dick off." And you say it's hard to for them to support bushsucks*, eh? I'd say it's impossible.

9. Not only are they traitors to the GLBT community,
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 08:19 AM by HypnoToad
they're idiots for ever have thinking they could change the repukes.

It can't be done.

Maybe these willing-to-be-led idiots will have LEARNED something by this. But, Dickie's daughet Mary certainly didn't open their eyes...

Truth, not tolerance. I will not tolerate them until they learn the truth about the repukes.

(edit: Removed "F***ers". I suppose even these cretins don't deserve such a harsh epithet. x( )

11. They'll never vote for Kerry, so maybe they should just sit it out
At least, that will be fewer votes for Bush.

There are some gay Republicans who vote with their pocketbook...they're wealthy and they like Bush's tax cuts. They'll be willing to ignore Bush's diasterous stance on gay issues solely because of Bush's economic policies.

I think they're traitors to the GLBT community, also. We don't really need creeps like Andrew Sullivan who will blindly follow Bush in spite of his support on FMA.

12. Just Because
I just hosted a gay republican in my home two weekends ago. He was exposed to a lot of the Democratic activism that I do lately, and of course his political views were questioned. It surprises me to see that so many people are convinced that social class is the only reason why these gay people vote Republican.

My friend has no strong political viewpoints, no world-view, and clearly no interest in day to day activities of how his country is managed. His family is blue collar, he is blue collar, his family has always voted Republican and that is why he will too.

He did say that he won't be voting for Bush in the upcoming election because of the "gay marriage thing" but the rest of our discussions were just hopeless exercises in asking him to explore his political reasonings. There were no reasons, other than the fact that this was the way it always was and the way it will always be for him.
