Freeper relatives would like evidence that Rush is a racist
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 01:00 PM by romantico
I'm thinking about the ESPN slur & the time he told a caller to take the bone out of his mouth. Can anyone give me further proof on how racist Rush is?

Went to a family cookout this afternoon & the topic of Rush came up.I called him a racist & three members of my family asked me to back it up.They also told me not to feed them any liberal media crap either. Can anyone offer any suggestions?I'm going back tonight & would like to have some links, facts, etc.for them. Many thanks!

2. If there is one thing I've learned here at DU...
You can produce volumes of information and, unless they keep an open mind, they will dismiss it.

Best of luck to you, though!

3. There is the quote
where he told a black caller to call back after he'd taken the bone out of his nose. At fair.org they used to have a section on Rush Limbaugh. You should try there.

4. My father is 92, and the biggest freeper I've ever known
My suggestion to you is to stay away from those family members. (If they're like my family) BTW they all think I'm crazy, LOL!!

I never say anything about anything concerning politics. But I'm always baited into a heated argument.

5. Here's a start...
"The American Indians were meaner to themselves than anybody was ever mean to them. The people were savages. It’s true, they damn well were … these people were out there destroying timber, they were out there conquering and killing each other, scalping people." - Rush Limbaugh

http://www.indiancountry.com/?1065806644

As a young broadcaster in the 1970s, Limbaugh once told a black caller: "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back." A decade ago, after becoming nationally syndicated, he mused on the air: "Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?"

snip...

In a similar vein, here is Limbaugh's mocking take on the NAACP, a group with a ninety-year commitment to nonviolence: "The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."

When Carol Moseley-Braun (D-IL) was in the U.S. Senate, the first black woman ever elected to that body, Limbaugh would play the "Movin' On Up" theme song from TV's "Jeffersons" when he mentioned her. Limbaugh sometimes still uses mock dialect -- substituting "ax" for "ask"-- when discussing black leaders.

Such quotes and antics -- many compiled by Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR) for our 1995 book -- offer a whiff of Limbaugh's racial sensibility. So does his claim that racism in America "is fueled primarily by the rantings and ravings" of people like Jesse Jackson. Or his ugly reference two years ago to the father of Madonna's first child, a Latino, as "a gang-member type guy" -- an individual with no gang background.

9. This sounds familiar
"Limbaugh sometimes still uses mock dialect -- substituting "ax" for "ask"-- when discussing black leaders."

Funny, I can't count the number of times the same thing has been done on this very message board regarding Schwarzenegger. If we want to use this as an example of bigotry, we shouldn't engage in the very behavior we purport to condemn.

6. He regularly mocks and denigrates Jesse Jackson and other
black political figures. I've heard him slander Charlie Rangle and John Lewis. The only good negro to Rush are house negros like Condi and Colin.

All that said, I wouldn't bother. If your relatives have listened and are too damn dumb to figure it out themselves, there's nothing you can say that'll change their minds.

7. In recently defending Condi Rice......
Limbaugh called her "a girl and a black".

I consider calling anyone "a black" as opposed to "a black person" (or man
or woman) to be racist, because it reduces them to a non-human object.

As for calling Rice a "girl", she is pushing 50. That says volumes about his
respect for women in power.

11. Don't get into political fights
with your family.

You should know better than that.
