tbey are my prime motivation to decry this illegal war.

These are human beings. It does not matter what language they speak or what god they worship.

They, like us, are human beings, doing the best they can to raise a family and to instill in their children the proper values, as they see it. They are and were NOT Saddam Hussein.

We invaded thier home country and we slaughtered them and their children.

These are NOT an enemy, but they have been transformed into an enemy , one which deserves to have it's ten year old children be sighted through the crosshairs.

This is a slaughter. This is indeed somthing to be ashamed ofl

Yet we have few who are ashamed. Instead we have a great many who think we need to have done this.

The only War Crimes Tribunal I find for this war is the one against Sadaam:

Robert Fisk, the photographer who posted those photos is the Middle East Correspondent for the UK's Independent. In 2001, he was nearly beaten to death by angry Afghanis.

The car Fisk was driving in had broken down, and soon refugees surrounded him...Fisk punched a couple of people and then was rescued by a Muslim cleric, who put him in a police car, which eventually got him to the Red Crescent.


This is how Fisk tried to make sense of his encounter: "I had spent more than two and a half decades reporting the humiliation and misery of the Muslim world, and now their anger had embraced me, too..."

18. I'm well aware of who Fisk is and what is stances are, thanks.

But you seem to have missed the point.

Under titles like "Pictures of Destruction and Civilian Victims of the Anglo-American Aggression in Iraq" are photos of people and events with no further information provided about their context.

For example, three men sitting on the ground presumably having been detained or arrested by US soldiers. Who are these men? What were they suspected of having done? What were the circumstances of their detention? Etc...

Fisk has never been known for his subtlety.

It falls on the Commander and Chief and all his advisers.

"The troops" are mostly kids of working-class families trying to make something of their lives. The recruiters promised them discipline, something to believe in, an education...I'll bet most of the troops did not anticipate having to participate in the atrocities of war. Many serving in Iraq are reservists and National frigging Guard...I mean when was the last time the National Guard were called into active combat duty? They're the ones who were standing guard at our airports after 9/11. Now, they're fighting a war in Iraq. Michelle Witmer was in the National Guard. Her memorial service was last Wednesday.

Please don't blame "the troops." They're just trying to make a living under the Bush regime--just like the rest of us.

Support our troups. Call your congressman and demand that they be brought home.

19. I'd buy what you are saying

if you would have said it 20 years ago or even 15 years ago. Since Bush I with his illegal invasion of Panama and then his incursion to prop up strong men in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, there are no soldiers who can use the excuse -- I didn't know. Even Mr. Clinton sent these people off time and again to be the point of the US spear. No, there can be no soldier who can use ignorance as an excuse. Not any more.

Isn't it a crime of the highest order for our leaders to ask our soldiers to kill and be killed without first making the clear moral case why this is necessary? And if it is a crime of the highest order -- akin to "high crimes and misdemeanors" -- then shouldn't our condemnation be reserved for the perpetrators of these crimes? In current circumstances, for GWB and his cabal? We should be demanding impeachment!

9. Photos

I ran across this site several months ago when I was looking for graphic photos of war casualties. I used them in a short film I put together which I called.... "The Liberation of Iraq. A Gift From the American People". I ran them together with some hauntingly beautiful music (solo con te). These pictures are thought provoking for those individuals who have chosen to ignore the real casulaties of this action.

If American's can't stomach these photos then they have no business supporting this war.

If you go to page 18....you will see a photo with the words "F*** Iraq" spelled out on the deck of a U.S. Aircraft Carrier. Whomever the commander is of that ship should be fired. Those are not the thoughts/words of liberators -- I was very ashamed when I saw that. And some have the audacity to say that the "Iraqi's dont get it". We are the ones who don't get it.
