13. I think he allowed himself to get screwed |
|
O'Neil did not, neither did Christie Whitman , and neither did Richard Clarke as well as DiLulio and as I understand, several other less than prominent members of the administration
Powell allowed himself to be set up like this. He is compliant andhe believes in Bush
that is the stark truth and it is about time that people stop the myth that Powell is a steady beacon of light in the conservative storm
He is not. He is an opportunist.

17. Absolutely right. When you know something is wrong, |
|
when the situation has become so intolerable that you cannot continue in the same fashion, you speak out, take your risks, and hang the cost. I've done it many times in my life. And believe me, I've paid a hefty price for my decisions which I knew were the right ones.
Powell could have walked long ago. He would not have been alone. There is a virtual exodus of people who were either fired, or walked from the White House and the State Department because Life Became Intolerable.
Because God Damn it, it was more than his job on the line. It was other peoples' lives. Hundreds, thousands. And he chose to stay. There is nothing honorable about it.
And if you look at recent photos of him, he really looks like crap. He has two wide chunks of white on his temples, and the grooves in his forehead have become deeper than ever. So much for integrity.

Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 06:36 PM by Hell Hath No Fury
he would have resigned when he was asked to lie about a ginned-up war that put soldiers unnecessarily in harm's way.
He should have walked and exposed the Administratiton for the thugs they are.

|
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 06:40 PM by BEFOREATHOUGHT
Who grew up in the same town and knew the same people. Ray said of Powell, "It is out of the realm of possibility; he will twitter his fingers and follow orders" Paraphrasing of course.
Get over it DUERS Powell is a good solider.

19. Not according to Randi Rhodes who said that she, as a soldier |
|
would NEVER do anything that she considered illegal or against the law.
Powell is a ship without a sail. He knows not anymore what his moral or ethical boundaries are.
I am convinced he is protecting his son Michael.
