Bush claims there will be no history of the iraqi war . . .
"Because we will all be Dead!" This is what Bob Woodward stated at the end of his 60-minute interview. He stated he asked Bush what history would say of his Iraqi war.

This scares the living hell out of me. God help us all.

5. Do you realize what a hold the religious right has . . .
on this man. He was told by Billy Graham that he was the "prodical son." He feels this is a mission he is on at the end of times. He really believes this is what God wants him to do; however, he has never came out so plain as he did with this quote.

Somebody better be screaming about this on the news tomorrow. This is outrageous and irresponsible for a President of this Country to stand there and say that the war he started is going to end up with "all of us dead."

Somethings gotta be done, but what???????

18. Nope, you got it wrong way...
... Bush has got a hold on the religious right.

Bush uses people - for example look at Vincente Fox, President of Mexico. Bush used him in his bid for the Presidency then did zippo afterwards - until this election and then it is again all smiles and "my guys will talk with your guys and the check is in the mail".

Religion is again something that he uses. He doesn't clearly understand squat about it, nor care that much about it. I would be stunned if he could name more than three of the ten commandments.

I know a little about religion as Dad is an Episcopal priest (retired). We chatted about this subject just recently and he doesn't think Bush is particularly religious either. He shows none of the fervor (other than near an election - notice what got signed recently? Think that was by chance?).

Bush understands the power of the religious zealots, but not because he is one. He merely sees them as another tool. Remember, his goal is power, not money or heavenly rewards. When you look at it from that perspective, it starts to become clear.

33. Rick Santorum too
When questioned about the need for enforcement of environmental laws to protect the future of the planet, he responded that there was no guarantee that the world was going to still exist in 100 years.

People who poo-poo this sort of apocalyptic thinking need to have a look at all the "End Times" books topping the best selling lists. It certainly has captured the imagination of at least a segment of the population.

Still, dreaming of "wars and rumors of wars" and having your kid getting his leg blown off in Iraq as his part in the long anticipated End Times might shake a few more people back to their senses.

Bush's remarks to Woodward on how he would rather listen to God than his Dad -- who was MERELY a former President and Vice President -- ain't gonna play well, as Karen Hughes might have planned, to "expand the base" of voters of people possessing profound religious faith. Only wacky people have a "Bring it On" attitude towards Armageddon -- not all folks of profound faith have abandoned their faculties of rational judgement.

I don't know HOW it happened, but I think Mr Rove and Ms Hughes have blundered badly in pushing the Divine Mission issue onto the undecided American voter.

Prediction: watch the polls drop this week -- unless, of course, they are the ones that freepers and wackos can manipulate.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/15/60minutes/main612067.shtml

Having given the order, the president walked alone around the circle behind the White House. Months later, he told Woodward: “As I walked around the circle, I prayed that our troops be safe, be protected by the almighty. Going into this period, I was praying for strength to do the Lord's will. I'm surely not going to justify war based upon God. Understand that. Nevertheless, in my case, I pray that I be as good a messenger of his will as possible. And then, of course, I pray for
forgiveness."

Did Mr. Bush ask his father for any advice? “I asked the president about this. And President Bush said, ‘Well no,’ and then he got defensive about it,” says Woodward. “And then he said something that really struck me. He said of his father, ‘He is the wrong father to appeal to for advice. The wrong father to go to, to appeal to in terms of strength.’ And then he said, ‘There's a higher father that I appeal to.’"

Beyond not asking his father about going to war, Woodward was startled to learn that the president did not ask key cabinet members either.

“After the second interview with him on Dec. 11, we got up and walked over to one of the doors. There are all of these doors in the Oval Office that lead outside. And he had his hands in his pocket, and I just asked, ‘Well, how is history likely to judge your Iraq war,’” says Woodward.

“And he said, ‘History,’ and then he took his hands out of his pocket and kind of shrugged and extended his hands as if this is a way off. And then he said, ‘History, we don’t know. We’ll all be dead.’”

Toward the bottom of the article....

How does the president think history will judge him for going to war in Iraq?

“After the second interview with him on Dec. 11, we got up and walked over to one of the doors. There are all of these doors in the Oval Office that lead outside. And he had his hands in his pocket, and I just asked, ‘Well, how is history likely to judge your Iraq war,’” says Woodward.

39. We KNOW we will all be dead. That is NOT the answer to the question.
He was asked how will history judge the war.

He could have said: I am sure that historians will say it was the right thing to do, although it wasn't popular at the time.

But Mr. Sockpuppet apparently does not have the strong belief that he is doing the right thing. Or maybe we are at the end of history.

Freedom is not America's gift to the world; freedom is the Almighty God's gift to every man and women in this world.
. . .

We're a nation with a mission, and that mission comes from our most basic beliefs. We believe that freedom is the right of every single person in the world. By the unselfish dedication of Americans in uniform, people in our own country and in lands far away, people can live in freedom and know the peace that freedom brings.

He just wasn't smart enough or willing enough or reflective enough to be able to answer Woodward's question about how history will remember the Iraq war. He means we'll all be gone someday, so who cares?

And it's true that everyone alive today will someday all be gone. That's all he meant. He's just stupid and doesn't CARE. He couldn't give a good answer to that question because he cannot think deeply enough.

History is already being written.

A sneak preview:

George W Bush is the only President to have taken the oath of office while having lost the election due to legal wrangling <linkto: Why Lawyers Were First Against the Wall When the Revolution Came">. During his tenure he fought a war against terrorism that increased terrorism, illegally installed a government in Iraq, <linkto: How Civil War Created Kurdistan/Iraq>, and ballooned the national debt <linkto: How China Bought the US for 10 cents on the Dollar>. He was defeated, like his father, after only one term <linkto: The Fall of Texas Chic>. After attempting to retire in his adopted state of Texas, he was tarred and feathered and eventually run out on a rail <linkto: Use of the Internet to Discover Ancient Methods of Abuse>. 35. * stupidly thinks that it takes many decades to write History???
The least evil take on "we'll all be dead" is that Bush actually thinks that History is just a class they teach in high school whose text books wouldn't have an account of the Iraq War for many decades.

Is really that simple? Or as others have suggested: * was thinking who cares? We'll all be dead eventually - so why worry.

Or did he mean something more sinister?

No matter what he meant - the man is truly warped and frighteningly he is the President of the United States.
