Is it time to revive the independent counsel? |
|
Would it pay to start an investigation during an election year? Will Bush be the second lame duck POTUS to face impeachment?
What happens legally if he defeated in the election in regards to a full blown investigation?

The pResident didn't renew the executive order (or whatever it is) that allowed an independant counsel provision to exist... so there is no such thing currently.

The Executive branch created a position to investigate itself? I thought it was somehow concieved in the acrymonious aftermath of Watergate.
