Karen Hughes and Condi Rice approved war before Powell was told.
WTH is that all about???

Woodward says that Bush didn't ask Colin Powell for his recommendation about war on Iraq. Nor did he ask Rumsfeld. He asked Karen Hughes and Condi Rice for their recommendations, though. And they both gave a thumbs up.

Incidentally, there has been NO MENTION of Karl Rove in Woodward's statements yet, has there? Why not? Everybody else is getting scrutinized, but no mention of Rove?

1. That is very odd....
Karen Hughes strikes me as a bad actress. She was trying so hard to be nicey nicey on the Daily Show - but there were a couple glimpses of her anger? revenge? something?...that showed through.

9. Karne Hughes is just like Old Lady Bush. Ruthless, hateful, and vengeful.
Even Nixon remarked about Babs Bush that "Nobody hates like that woman can hate."

Bush has a mommy complex and Hughes fills that niche.

3. I found that so sickening...
he asks Hughes, his POLITICAL adviser, for recommendations about the invasion and doesn't ask Powell, unbelievable!

7. Exactly
Didn't one of the recent insider authors say this administration makes all their decisions based on politics?

she said something like "the praise-a dent is out of harms way"...or some other 'I am in control here and b*sh is wonderful and fine and in a safe location for now' right wing shit.

All the while the appointed coward is flying all over the country...supposedly protecting us but really protecting his own ass from what he brought down on us all. In between his taking cipro.

5. Karen Hughes is nothing more than a former TV reporter
Where does she get off deciding whether the US should go to war or not?

8. They are his Mommies!
Dont you notice he relies on them for everything?

What is really shocking is that his father, Bush Sr, was Pres, is experienced in FP, & waged war against Iraq, & the Shrub didnt consult him!!!!!

My theory is he has an inferiority complex: high achievement Father, who suceeded at everything he did. Shrub followed & failed at everything his father succeeded at.

His push to get rid of Saddam was to do one thing, his father didnt do. And know what? He screwed up!!! His father was right not to try & occupy Iraq.
