We need a Dr. McCoy bill
Edited on Sun Apr-18-04 11:12 PM by Must_B_Free
McCoy had the special authority to declare the Captain insane. He did, in fact, one time when Kirk had been split into two insane alter egos.

Where's our McCoy? The captains been turned into a delusional messianic button pusher.

2. Isn't there a procedure for that
There was a movie with Forrest Whitaker I vaguely remember where members of the cabinet declared the president insane. Maybe it was just a made up procedure for the movie.

3. This was the first thing I thought of tonight when I saw the 60 Min piece
We really do need a "USS Enterprise" law that lets the Surgeon General (or some other official medical officer) declare the President insane and unable to carry out his appointed duties. Bush is quite obviously crazier than a shithouse rat. And here I just thought he was stupid.

6. Section 4:
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the
principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principle officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session.
If the Congress within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter
written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

5. What good would it do? Cheney would take over and be openly in charge
