after the next terror attack, how will you react?
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 05:57 AM by mopaul
condi and cheney and all the others insist that we WILL be attacked again, not if but when. not just a lame prediction either, these people know when an attack is coming. they just don't usually tell us. like last time. but rest assured, there will be another terror attack before this november.

so what will we do this time? rally around our mighty leader, who promised to stay the course, steady leadership in a time of change?
attack another muslim country that had nothing to do with it? send thousands more troops to baghdad? wave a lot of little flags? crank up the lee greenwood c.d.? will we unite again behind w, the conquerer?

or will all holy hell break loose among the populace? will we ask, 'why didn't you protect us, as promised?'

or this scenario: a major attack is AVERTED and w saves the day, like superman. this one would be easy, as no one would have to die at all, and w would re-enter the white house on a red carpet.

or, we are attacked, thousands die, and then bushco tells us that only w can save us in this time of chaos, and you shouldn't change horses in the middle of a war.

or, marshall law is activated, the election is cancelled, and we continue on, with our unelected moron. any number of wild scenarios are now being considered in hushed whispers in marble halls.

and how do you feel, knowing that we are now like israel, under constant threat from terrorists? how did it get to this? it ain't supposed to be this way. we want stability, we get chaos.

prepare yourselves in the best way you know how. we are about to be tested as a democracy, like never before. and we've got to be ready to resume lives of liberty and freedom after w and his nasty cockroaches have been removed from our white house.

they are gonna try to take it all away from us, very soon. i see it coming, and i hope i'm wrong. it wouldn't be the first time.

I will be sad that it had to go down like this

But I will also be glad to see the US reap what they sow

2. chickens coming home to roost
i sadly agree. you can't exactly say we deserve to be attacked, not we, the people, but these monsters who stole our white house deserve it. unfortunately, WE will reap what THEY sow.

3. Oh, the answer is so clear and obvious, no matter how it pans out
Predictable cheerleading from the Mighty Morphin' Media Whores:

Devastating (or minor) domestic attack? We must rally around the Imperious Leader, and vote to stay the hardline course! Suspend civil liberties, no election is necessary, everyone loves Dubya!

Averted domestic attack? Proof positive that our Imperious Leader's policies have improved intelligence gathering! We can help by re-electing Dubya and calling our congressmen in support of the wonderful Patriot Act!

No domestic attack whatsoever? Our foreign policy has been such a success that terrorists no longer target us at all! Re-elect Dubya for a continuation of exciting overseas war coverage, plus more tax cuts for the job-creating ultra-rich!

You make it too easy, mo. Ask us a tough one, like how the hell we're going to uproot the whitehouse squatter in any of the above scenarios...

4. Obviously our glorious regime
would have failed miserably to protect us and will probably have provoked if not had a hand in the attack (again).

5. I know how I will react
and that will be with anger at the regime that is responsible for such things.

I won't be "rallying around the flag" or want to invade yet another country. I'll know clearly that such an attack has happened only because the colossal arrogance and foolhardiness of Bush & Co is what will have triggered such an attack.

But will I be in the minority? Or will people understand what's really going on? Will they see through the bluster and the lies and understand that Bush MUST be removed from power?

How about THIS scenario: The vote is so overwhelmingly in favor of Kerry that the election can't be stolen by the usual methods (ballot-box stuffing, voter intimidation, scrubbing of rolls, and so on) and so it's clear by November 3 that Kerry is the next elected president. What do we suppose will happen to enable the Bush cabal not to hand over power? Do we really think they'll go quietly?
