Imus is showing his true-self today. I warned you that the ranks would
close behind Bush when something really, really ergregious would be reported. Proof that 'stupid white men' stick together and as long as Bush was being accused of things that appeared to be unimpeachable, some could pretend to be against him to beef up their ratings. But when the revelations indicate the true evil of this empire, the true evil-doers will run to Bush's defense.

1. he's annoying me today
more than usual anyway. He keeps talking about Woodward's book not revealing anything new or astonishing. I thought the funneling of $700 million and the Saudis willing to fix oil prices were news and absolutely outrageous.

3. Imus needs the press to point these things out to him --
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 06:58 AM by DeepModem Mom
I'm out of the country right now, but I'm getting a sinking feeling that, so far, the American press is not honing in on the Constitutional breaches, and the lying (as in the Iraq planning talks in Crawford, followed afterward with a press conference in which Bush said the talk was about Afghanistan), and the under-the-table dealing with a foreign government (Saudi). The press has to interpret to the public something like Prince Bandar and the gasoline -- this is a foreign government attempting to affect an American election. They have to hammer Woodward's point of the unconstitutionality of the $700 million diversion. Damn, the press is lazy, lacks knowledge about our system of government, or worse.

5. I think it is lacks knowledge or worse
"the American press is not honing in on the Constitutional breaches... The press has to interpret..."

I think someone needs to do this for the press first. :)

19. All You Have To Do Is Reverse Rolls
Say this was Clinton, showing his State of the Union to Chinese and all shit would have broken loose. Many of the wingnuts were really looking hard for the Chinese and Indonesian connections (the infamous crooks who vanished) associated with the Riady scandal, and that's chump change compared to what we're seeing here.

We were alerted Woodward had some powerful stuff in the book, and I fear it's too powerful for the "sheeple" to grasp. A major government official showing war plans to a foreign agent...an agent who represents a country that harbored most of the killers of 3,000 Americans...and it's brushed off as trying to win Bandar and his money over? What a pile of bullshit!

If Saudi Arabia is such a critical and "cooperative" ally, why did our military high-tail it out of that stinkin' desert to Kuwait and now Iraq? Looks like Unka Dick did a real fine job explaining the plans. My bets are they cracked open the Crown Royal, poured another one and laughed at how they screwed others out of their fortunes.

No doubt there are serious problems in this regime that Americans should be demanding be investigated, but I believe a lot are numb...they are tired of the partisan fighting and the egos and only tune in when they really need to, or something really, really titilating. We're not getting that here.

My hopes are so many are numbed they stay home and leave those of us who care about the country take over...yep, bring in the REAL adults!

I think she should pound these things into Imus' thick skull. Eventually he may catch on.

9. DId he just call the whole administration a bunch of coward war criminals?
I swear that's what I just heard. It seems like Imus must have finally figured out the 60 minutes interview. He's kind of slow.

And as the show ended, he was angry and yelling at Charles. No sound though.

13. So I did hear right.
Well, I can't argue with that. WHat I find interesting is that moron sidekick talking about the Rush Limbaugh types being responsible for the spreading of Bush's bullshit. I was screaming at the TV, "You lying fucker!! You're the Rush Limbaugh type that made this madness happen".

Success has many parents and failure is an orphan.

18. Maybe he was taking a jab at Imus.
I don't recall the guy's name, but he did not support the war. The show ended on a curious note; normally I'm not here to see it. Imus called the admin a bunch of "cowards and war criminals." Charles said that's a little over the top, don't you think. Imus vehemently said no and the next thing I see is Imus up and yelling at Charles. They're beginning to turn on one another.

14. Why does anyone listen to Imus?
I've never quite figured what his show is supposed to be. He's not funny enough to be a satire. He's not smart enough to be informative. And he's not raunchy enough to be "shock radio."

Basically it's a drugged-out cowboy wanna-be talking to his brother, endlessly selling schwag, and calling people "weasels."

15. the only reason I watch him
is because he is grumpier than me and I can't stand watching all those sugary sweet, cheerful morning shows with people like Katie Couric. He makes me want to scream at the TV, but unlike the Limbaughs of the world, every once in a while he says something I can agree with.

17. He interviews Frank Rich and Tom Oliphant...
and no one else does. He interviews Democratic Senators, as well as Republican. Sometimes he's funny. As a woman, it's interesting to get a take on the thinking of a group of white males, with little female input. He's not educated, so people like Russert have undue influence on him, but he's smart, which means he sometimes gets things right, and says so, to quite a number of people.

I VERY often get so angry, I have to switch him off -- but, I've outed myself now: sometimes DMM watches/listens to Imus.

20. I don't think he's smart at all
And I don't think he so much interviews people as basically lets them spout what they've already written or said elswhere.

But, to each his (or her) own.
