12. Is It Me Or Am I Missing The Point...

1. Because it is in a book, doesn't make it true, should I cite examples :).

2. Even if it was true, does a statement made by an Ambassador equal a hidden conspiracy?

3. Even if it was true, why is there a problem with the Saudi's attempting to get their oil prices to a certain point, and why is it a problem that the Saudi's support Bush? I would think this would be a positive in light of our current Middle East position?

Trust me, I am not Bush supporter, but I am just not getting this...

1. It's an investigative journalism book with cited facts and recorded statements. The book is filled with facts that can be verified, and 60 minutes also verified Woodward's facts. So, unless you're prepared to challenge Woodward, Wallace and 60 Minutes' integrity and factual journalism on this issue, then I suggest you drop this now. Woodward and Wallace are way behind you Mr./Mrs. 7 posts. And for that matter they are way beyond me.

2. Of course, a foreign national saying that he'll give * the election shows election influence from a foreign country. Would you be a proud American if you knew the presidential election's outcome is swayed by a non-American source?

3. The Saudis have always held us by the neck with oil prices, they always will while we are dependent on redundant and harmful fossil fuels. As I said in #2, are you comfortable as an American that your leader is in the back pocket of a country with a long history of civil rights abuses, state sponsored murder, and a supporter of the very terrorists that struck on 9/11 and other dates?

I'm not tying to belittle you, just trying to give you a perspective that explains the outrage over this information.

That is not logical argumentation nor critical reasoning whatsoever...being that I am new...I will give you the chance to respond again...

1. Your making reference to the authors of the book is irrelevent to the statements that I made...and no, they aren't beyond me, speak for yourself and don't presume to know me...

2. A statement made by a foreign power...does not indicate anything other than a statement was made by a foreign power...it does not indicate a subversive scheme by the Bush administration to garner votes, it does speak to back door deals by Bush with the Saudi's...now if you can prove that it has, then I will submit it will be relevant, but this article did not indicate that...

3. The Saudi's have the right to CONTROL THEIR OWN OIL PRICES...now if they do this to support the Bush administration what do you plan on doing, going to War so they can't...

So now you see why I think this thread is somewhat ridiculous...because it proves nothing on our end, and it points to a non-American controlled decision on the other end...

2. What a crock! So, by your logic, its OK for a foreign power to help a president (and a corrupt one at that) stay in power? As for back door deals, yesterday on the major media outlets and AAR, they had audio of Powell refuting Woodwards book. In that same audio he admits the NOFOR document being shown to Bandar. That's a breech of the national trust, and our own laws. So you're point here is not only a lie, but it's illegal.

If you are going to hang around here, let me give you some advice -- grow a thicker skin. DU can be a rough place with all of us democrats and liberals hashing out the issues that are important to us. There will be posts that are guarenteed to offend you (and everybody else) here.

As for the importance of this thread, it was important to the original poster and other people who feel strongly on this. If you think it's useless, then don't bother responding.
