Is Kerry's campaign avoiding talking about BCCI/Iran Contra |
|
and how Kerry was such a leader on exposing the criminal dealings of so many prominent right-wingers. During the primary he mentioned it occasionally. I'm not even an anti-moderate like so many people here. I understand and want Kerry to do what he can to appeal to centrist swing voters in sort of the traditional way. And I also understand that his leadership on those issues are complicated and not well known about, and therefor some might feel could potentially turn some people off who think he's just talking about irrelevant stuff from decades ago or something.
However I just think it speaks to the leadership of him. That he isn't at his core establishment-minded. That even though he and Bush were born into the power establishment. He took huge risks and stood for solid activist values from early in stark contrast to the drunken cheerleader in cheif. And that he took those tasks on and was proved right at the very beginning of his senate career.
I just think his campaign needs to come up with a way to make people who at least are paying somewhat attention to learn about his work on those issues and reexpose what he exposed about Reagan/Bush/North etc.

As a foreign language teacher, I have PAINFULLY learned - if I have to spend much time at all explaining the background/context of sthg students are supposed to learn ......... I've lost them.
