My older brother is pretty typical of the average American. While most of the family rants against the chimp, he is happier watching reality TV shows and playing video games. "I just didn't get the politics gene" is his usual explanation. He just doesn't care.

So, I'm talking to him on the phone yesterday and he says, "you know, I don't have anything personal against Bush like the rest of you guys, but after watching his press conference the other night I think I'm going to actively campaign for Kerry." He was absolutely astounded by how dumb and disconnected Bush was. It has taken him three and a half years, but it finally got through.

I love when I see posts about people's Republican friends and family switching over (I've had a couple myself)--that is great. But often those people are actually politically engaged, they are paying attention. When someone as apathetic about politics as my older brother gets fired up, THAT is progress.

My mom was a faux news addict and love shrub. She would always ask me what I did with my "tax rebate" whenever I started on Shrub.
She now will be voting for Kerry because.......

I'm saving it for my county and school taxes which are going up because Bush is starving them.
