1. He said they would use it to get elected
If I recall hearing it right.

Thus a part of the war planning on that level was geared toward maintaining a war footing for quite a while, allowing the "war pResident" to ride past 11/04 on the coattails of fear.

2. Rove said Iraq war was a "product" that Bush decided to market in Sept
However I do not recall Rove saying it was a "political" product

But I agree Rove's comments admitted in effect that the war was "political"

3. Card was the one who talked about marketing.
That, however, was in August of '02 and referred to the problem of rolling out a new "product" in August. Rove talked to the RNC convention about running on the war (on terra) in January of '02.

4. Thanks for the correction- I agree it was Card - yet another senior moment
It is getting hard to remember all the items/lines that should have caused a media firestorm - but didn't.

Meanwhile today's Dallas Morning News is saying it is time for the print media to admit their liberal bias....

It is bad to mess up the remembering of the correct name of the Bush minion who authored the outrage, but is it worse to do the Dallas 1984 up is down sin of reversing who the sinner was and who was sinned against?

:-)

5. While in Texas in January 2002, Rove said to a group
"We'll run on the war." That's why Kennedy said what he did about the war being concocted in Texas. He likely mucked up the wording.
